That's sad news. RIP, Mr Marshall.

Another of the true contributors to the sound of rock. Everyone who doesn't have a Marshall wants one.

Back in the day, I used to have a pair of early 70s MkII Superleads, a 100w and a 50w. The 100w was truly a fire breathing monster, a destroyer of Greenbacks.

So loud as to be almost completley unusable, utter dinsoaurs, but I do regret not still having them.

Sitting under a blanket in a spare bedroom is my 1986 JCM800 model 2205 50w head and matching slant cab with celestion 30s. This is a channel switching master volume model with reverb. I had it rewired to bypass the cold (diode clipping?) sounding stock lead channel gain in favor of a warmer more JMP/plexi esque sound.

With my les paul junior plugged directly in...it sounds amazing. pure rock and roll. sadly, I have not played in a band in years and this amp has not even been fired up in nearly 5 years. Too loud to play in the house.

Sigh

RIP Mr Marshall.

May you rest with the sounds of a full stack bellowing out your favorite tunes....

Am overseas right now and was listening to the BBC last night when they came on with the news that Jim Marshall had passed.

Sorry to see, he was an icon and one of a kind!

RIP
