Madness on Wheels: Rallying's Craziest Years
I watched this program this morning. A harrowing and exciting time for rallying. Below is the trailer for the show.
This was produced by the same group that did Grand Prix: The Killer Years |

Great to watch except for the painful ending. Thanks for the video.

There are eras and vehicles in motorsport history that stand out for me as heroic to the point of insanity...
The heyday of the Auto Union cars - I never see pictures of those cars racing without the thought going through my mind "you went HOW fast on those tires...?" Rally racing in the 80's is one of the insane times. Unbelievabley fast cars, out-of-the-box drive-train builds (wasn't there a Peugeot with two engines?) and bat-shyt crazy fans. Seriously, rally fans put soccer fans to shame. No way you'd catch me on the outsides of those corners. Inside the corner and in the company of a very large tree, thank you. angela

More Group B nuttiness:
Most of these cars from Audi, Renault, Peugeot, MG, and the 037 Lancia had well over 700hp. The Lancia Delta S4 had almost 800, and was the only car produced with both a turbochager, and a supercharger. No form of auto racing will ever be as dangerous, or deadly as FIA Group B Rally was between '82, and Henri Toivonen's death at Corsica in May of '86
