Happy Easter

Hope all has good Easter Sunday. Something interesting this year though, if I never went into a retail establishment, and I had no knowledge of the holiday, I would never know it was tomorrow. It seems the general public and /or media have really downplayed the holiday. I remember years ago Easter was a big deal, guess times are changin'

944Larry 04-07-2012 05:20 PM

I don't know that it's downplayed. Nothing is like it used to be anymore. A lot of this stuff is directed towards kids and as adults we aren't exposed to it. I'm like Dennis Miller on this, "I could be wrong".

mikeesik 04-07-2012 05:57 PM

It is 'down-played' Esp. here in Canada.

NO one wishes to offend any other religions-by GOD!

In the last decade I have seen CHRISTIAN HOLIDAYS go by the wayside slowly especially CHRISTmas due to the great influx of immigration.

BUT Jesus, they sure will take the CHRISTIAN HOLIDAYS off and with PAY!!

HAPPY HAPPY EASTER.
JESUS HAS RISEN!

Happy Easter all!!!

Aside from religion, and the comment about the Catholic church( how tasteless) and no I'm not catholic, if your a retailer or small business owner it has economic effects. So what if you don't believe the Christian religion, what is so wrong with a day set aside to spend with family and Friends around a good meal, and the kids get to enjoy it? That component alone is going away, and that has nothing to do with religion. Just sad....

Easter has everything to do with Religion. And people should know why that it is a special day-otherwise it changes the root and what and how the -your- country is!
It is not just a day to spend with your family-you can do that on many weekends for any reason.
Religion has waned in the past few years and look -it used to at least give the dunces at least a conscience and others that really believed and went to church.
-THAT WAS THE MEANING OF -THE FEAR OF GOD-.

Say your piece A few decades ago when people knew christianity helped evolve the country into what it was would- have chastized you! This is what you don't realize

As we like to say...Up your Kiester for Easter!:D

Mike, relax. I am a Christian and do believe what the day is about, and you are right. I'm trying to have a dialog without this getting moved to PARF. Keeping this civil with out using CAPS to keep thing "logical". Please don't turn this into a dialog about the ever advancing attacks on Christianity.
I made this thread because of a conversation I had with non Christians Friends who mentioned this very thing to me, regarding the diminishing of the overall holiday.

So, then, I take it you have some intrinsic knowledge of the 'good' of the Catholic church? I have in depth and first hand knowledge of the corruption, greed and complete lack of consideration and compassion the Catholic church has for its parishioners and, especially, employees. It is a deplorable organization dedicated to covering up their misdeeds and trying to make a buck off dying persons.

All that aside, I agree with the general sentiment of the thread. It is good to have a day here and there set aside for family to get together and enjoy the blessings of life with eachother.

- I hope they go to hell inwhich they disbelieve.

I'm just speaking from a fundamental point and individual families.
I do not wish to talk about **** priests and the Vatican where Hypocrasy is at it's worst and 1 block away- there are hungry.

I am done on this topic
Make your time an honest and gentle one with your Family and especially your Kids-that's for every body.-AND ME-

Have a decent day tomorrow.

We (the boys in the family) are going to shoot ground hogs after the family dinner. Is that bad?

To me religion has nothing to do with your ground hog shooting. If your conscience lets u, gopher it:D.

Whether u are atheist or not, it is the decision of the individual what religion u follow.
Who am I to judge anybody else's religion. What a ridiculous thing to fight about. Oh wait a minute, who created those ground hogs?

Chocaholic 04-08-2012 05:00 AM

This trend is not new. C'mon...what does a giant bunny and colored eggs have to do with the sanctity and religious significance of Easter? No, this holiday, like Christmas, has been corrupted into a marketing farce long ago.

imcarthur 04-08-2012 05:24 AM

And every year, it gets harder & harder to buy a goat to sacrifice.

Ian

PS Happy Bunny Day

Oh Haha 04-08-2012 06:07 AM

Happy Easter!

We are staying at my sister's and having a small family dinner. My kids found all of the eggs that were hidden, ate a hearty breakfast, and then...............................

my son was stung on the butt by a bee.

Targa Me 04-08-2012 09:01 AM

Happy Easter everyone. Happy Easter even if you don't believe in Easter.

Yes, he has risen and that makes me feel good inside.
