Absolutely infuriated by furniture store-I will retribute!
I purchased a coffee table.
A dining room set. A 5x8 carpet. A computer desk. A night table. The dreaded frame and Bed. This is from a store called JYSK- not cheap and unlike IKEA. The coffee table is made of 'soft' glass that is not tempered as I found out. It scratches very easily. Even by a cubic zirconia. -The dining room table was damaged on the top upon delivery. Upon assembly of the dining chairs wooden pins were absent. We could only assemble 2 chairs out of 4. The carpet was delivered and was the only one left so they gave me the-'show model'. It is stained. My Son's night table seems fine. Imagine that and it has only 4 parts. His expensive computer desk seems allright. -NOW THE DREADED BED FRAME. We paid $300 for this engineered p.os. by Neanderthals. I talked to the mananger upon purchase and asked him -"how are the slats going to stay stable"-esp. on a KIDS Queen bed? I warned the x manager of Mac. D's to this place their will be a problem. Anyway , I purchased the bed and built it. It was such a ****ty fit I told my Son to leave the room while I flipped out on this design and quality. What I thought may take 1.5 hours took 5 -AND WITH FABRICATION!! People pay for this stress. Anyway after it was built we put the mattress on. The new age memory foam.-Really nice. Anyways I wanted to try it out and my Son as well. The slats shifted from movement and the middle slats came off the side beam. The middle support is made of low grade thin steel. It could not handle the weight and folded. (LIKE I SAID TO THE IDIOT MANAGER) We took the bed apart and took it back.-money back! We purchased a different bed frame in which was a better design. Not great.Talking to the young punks in shipping , they loaded up the new frame.-Nice guys. My Son and I built his bed last Saturday. It was a bit of a chamber of horrors. We had to improvise some of the steps in assembly, otherwise we would need 4 more hands. So after dissasembling what the instructions told us to do opposite, we finally got er done. That is the square bed frame. I was happy after flipping out about the fits. The last thing to do was to get his head board built. 3 metal curved bars that would hold 3 wooden slats. 2 bolts/washers nuts each bar. The Bolts had a different pitch to the nuts!!! I laughed I was so pissed off. I then told Simon, my Son , lets just put your mattress on and I will take care of the nuts and bolts. Something didn't seem right when we put in the bed support slats. They were too long! I couldn't believe it, I figured those tards gave us slats for a King size bed!! OH NO...!!-They gave us the wrong size bed frame- A TWIN A FRIKEN TWIN! I won't and can't build another one of these things!1 I tell you I was so mad that the cats ran away and I think I felt this aura around me with intense heat. I cannot believe this. I want retribution, I want punitive damages. I will never shop at JYSK again! My question now is what would you do? I am going there on Friday, but first I wish to be exposed to ****ty drivers on the way to make me feel like I did when I was building this junk and experiencing the incompetence of this store!!!!!

95% of my furniture is bought used for this exact reason. You can get the high line stuff for pennies on the dollar and it usually is assembled too! $300 would buy you a hell of a bed used on CL. Just give it a good wipe down with your favorite disinfectant and let it sit in the sun for a day ... then go buy a nice new matress - done.

And if you would have just gone to a antique shop near by, you could have saved money and got something that was made from real wood for half the price! I can never understand why people shop in those stores. Most of our furniture is over 95 years old, and some is over 200 years old. Seems the only things we have new are mattresses, the couches and a few office chairs. The rest are antiques. I just love the feel of real wood, vs press board.

It's for this reason I have nothing against IKEA.
You know going in, it is what it is, and you may be pleasantly surprised. I know I was with the bed I bought. If I ever get rich, I'll buy nice furniture, but I'm not, so IKEA fits the bill.

JYSK is not noted for their quality furniture. It's what IKEA would be like if everything was made in China. They have a no return policy on a lot of their items. Look for the signs when your in a store. IKEA is much better quality.

Any KD furniture is no fun and usually lower quality. Ikea, seem fine to me and they work. Cheap or inexpensive too. I can make furniture use to do it for a living. Nice furniture should not need that much assembly. A couple of screw and put on the mattress.

If that's the case, then JYSK's products are made in the bad part of China

I've been in JYSK and was never impressed with their stuff. Most of it is crap and the things that were OK I could get cheaper elsewhere. I've never bought anything from them.
Ikea's stuff is entry level, but for KD the quality is for the most part good. The kitchens have good Blum hardware, but it's of lower quality than the Blum stuff you would normally get in a custom kitchen build. An example of this is the hinge bases and cups are pressed steel, were as Blum hardware usually has stainless steel cast bases and cups. I assume that Blum makes these just for Ikea as a cost savings while still having the Blum name and quality. They do lots of other things to cut costs as well, that's how they make their coin. To have modern furniture with excellent quality it will cost you and most likely be custom. I owned a cabinet shop (high end and store fixtures) till I sold it several years ago.

I found that Blum have gone a bit south with their quality. We almost switched to Grass completely. Their 170* Inserta hinges have been disappointing. |

I liked the Grass hinges, they are a quality product as well. At the time we chose Blum just because many suppliers carried them, where as Grass you were at the mercy of one supplier. Even though I'm semi-retired I still have a Blum machine and all sorts of older (10 years) Blum hinges.

I wasn't calling you on it Mike, I had just never heard of it before. I know about tempered and safety glass but I thought it was all the same hardness. What do they say-"learn something new every day."
