(Corrected) This Sunday, the Bell Lexus Copperstate 1000 Road Rally will be rolling right up to Tempe’s Diablo stadium for the Field of Dreams Cruise In. Don’t miss this opportunity to ogle at more than 400 classics, muscle cars, exotics, street rods and others.

Beginning around 8 a.m., the west parking lot of Tempe Diablo Stadium will be transformed into a vintage car enthusiast’s dream come true, as the lot fills with some of the state’s finest vintage, sports, racing, classic and grand touring automobiles, and mingle with the car owners. There will also be raffles and giveaways throughout the event.

Get there early to get your eyeful, as the drivers will be participating in a European-style departure beginning at 10 a.m., so that the Copperstate 1000 participants can embark on their four-day, 1,000-mile road trip through Arizona.

On Sunday, April 15, 2012 the cars participating in the Bell Lexus Coppperstate 1000 will meet at Tempe Diablo Stadium for a public viewing before heading off for their four-day, 1,000 mile journey. The entrants have to pay a pretty penny to participate in the rally and then they make the general public pay a fee just to be able to look at the cars. That's BS. In years past they just started the rally from city streets so you could walk up to the cars and soak them in.

The best thing to do is find out where they are stopping for the night or for lunch somewhere on the route and look at them there (if you happen to live in the area). They almost always stop in Prescott (not sure if they still stop at Ruger's place), when I lived there it was nice to be able to walk up to the cars in the square and not have to pay a fee.

The best part is waiting for them to leave! Lots of good sights and sounds. Always some really cool cars there and in the surrounding parking lots. Here's a post I put up years ago....

We're in Prescott as well, but looks like the weather this weekend is pretty wet/snowy. Sunday looks the best of the two days, partly sunny, high of 53.
