Its a very interesting camera trick. Cool from a science standpoint....

Basically they had the speaker cycling at the same frequency as the camera.... 25hz.. For those of you too lazy to read....

A video further down that link shows doing the same thing with a strobe light.

I find it interesting. I've seen that effect with a strobe light before but the speaker is just there to make the drops uniform and not a stream?

The corn starch and water mixtures on a speaker are neat too.

Interesting. I thought they just had some dripping water and synched a strobe to it. What they did is much more complicated, but it works.
