Seriously? In Bryan's first post I read that he asks to have the buyer pay the $8.00 up front and will provide a full refund in the back. Ah well......

Yes, that is not a complete wiring harness, yes the verbiage should have been better, yes the communications should have gone better, yes I have made the same mistake on both ends. My mistake, I eat it.

But this trainwreck took my mind off a couple of my own so therefore: Thanks Guys!

Thanks David, Joe posted something nice on one of my Classifieds ads recently, this wiring isn't going anywhere on Classifieds, so as long as it's going to a good home...and I'm trying to clean up the clutter around here. My parting days are nearly over.

I paid a Pelican 200 buck, plus shipping plus duties for a rear reflector that was described as an "8" my call on it was a 5 at best, no way I was putting that POS on my car, I ate the 200++ and took this as a lesson.
007, reverse the situation and you will see what Joe is talking about, if Joe were to sell something he would list it correctly, you didn't, its your mistake. As far as your good reputation goes, well not anymore, not a snow ball's chance in hello.
007, its 8 bucks, do the right thing and save what face you have left.

a man is ONLY as good as his word and thats a fact. ive known joe for some time, and i too vouch for his honesty. but there comes a time when a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do, and "principle" becomes paramount. not the dollar amount.

and like most of us here, buying / selling on here can be a REAL FREEKING PITA!

i refuse to sell here anymore. i have a boat load of 87 parts, and each and every time i tried to sell/buy here, it was also a trainwreck.

too many think they KNOW the going price, they want it for free, they want the part 110% perfect despite being 25yrs old and pictures indicating any flaws are right there to see the flaws, they want to beat you over the head on price(despite me calling the local porsche salvage yard and finding out what they sell it for) and on and on.

and then they want ME TO BUY THE FREEKING BEER, FLY TO WHERE EVER THEY ARE LOCATED AND INSTALL IT FOR FREE!

as i have said before, each and every day some punk ass beaatch slams another one into a tree/wall/curb/gets stolen etc. the prices GO UP!

and thats when in the distance ya start hearing this SINGING! and the more ya gotta gotta needa needa der rust frei original part the SINGING GETS LOUDER! and that kiddies is THE FAT LADY SINGING! and she will keep singing her guts out until YOU PAY THE MOOLA TO DO THE HULA!

hell its not just porsche parts, its also HK spoon parts that are this way. short production runs on spoons and short production runs on parts. so if yer gonna play ya gotta pay when it comes to ORIGINAL PARTS!

and since we in az have NO RUST.....................our used parts HAVE A NO RUST PREMIUM ADDED TO THEM!

So if I buy stuff from OJU he comes, installs it and he brings the beer?

Why would anyone buy anything from anyone else?

I read it that OJU would sell it to us for faire market price, fly out and install it at no additional charge, provide all the beer (also at no additional charge), ensure there is a fat lady singing opera in the background (again, I do not know where he hides the fat lady but this I've gotta see), and demonstrate a trainwreck as he beaatch slams another one into a tree/wall/curb (this I am sure he will do with a sly grin on his face)!!!

He will provide this service NOT ONLY for Porsche parts but also for HK parts!!!

I am assuming if he is performing this service for HK parts he will also help you sight in the HK, assist you with your aim/trigger pull/shooting technique, and show you how to field strip and clean!!!! Of course, I'm just drawing inferences at this point.

Bryan,

Seriously, we might all be a bit abrasive and moreso when we feel wronged. Looks like this situation hit on a bad day for everyone involved. IF it were me I would also have been upset about paying for return freight. I have been on both ends of this type of exchange. It really was not worth the heartache this is causing everyone no matter who misunderstood what.

Seems pretty cut and dry.

Buyer purchased an item whose price was in line with and supported the sellers description of said item.

Item is not what was described.

Buyer is entitled to a refund.

Buyer may chose to incur non recoupable costs in order to receive a refund but is not obligated to.

Seller is obligated to make buyer whole which includes any expenses the buyer may incur for returning the item.

I still am having a problem understanding where it is completely the sellers fault. The original ad said: "I have two wiring harnesses both are out of a 3.2 carrera, all clips and fastners are intact. $115 shipped each. SOLD"

Joe's response:"How complete are the wiring harnesses? Any of the wires clipped or plugs missing?"

Seller's response: "No, they are as complete as they are in the car."

Now, buyer could have bought the harness new from out host for $1,043.00 with a guarauntee and return policy, shipping included. But he decides to shop the used market.

Buyer states that there are complete wiring harnesses being sold in the classifieds for "$150-200", yet he elects to buy the one for $115, sight unseen, no pics posted, and gets bent out of shape and starts a thread over $8 return shipping.

Sorry, but I could understand if the seller refused to credit back ANY funds. I don't understand when people try to save a buck and then b1tch when the deal goes sour. Caveat Emptor.

The real issue, as I see it, is when seller states they have two wiring harnesses both out of a 3.2 Carrera. I would expect there to be two complete harnesses. Yes, Joe could have asked a better or more direct question as to whether these were the full nose to tail or just portions.

In my mind's eye it was poor communications at the beginning and poor communications after the transaction.

I still do not understand if Bryan had originally requested Joe to pay for shipping and would refund all costs after receipt or if he had just requested to have Joe ship and eat the shipping costs. In my mind Bryan would have been within his rights to request Joe to pay initially for the shipping back and then refunded the total costs after receipt of the harness in same condition, costs to include the return shipping.

Joe bought for "$115 shipped" (or $107 for the harness alone which would have been a smokin' deal (compared to $150-200).

My conversation with Bryan would have been along the lines of :"Hey Bryan, recieved the package today, did you ship in 1 box or 2 because I only recieved a DME harness".

Bryan: "No, it was just the one box with the DME harness"

Me:"Oh, I thought it was a complete harness for the car, my bad. The low price should have tipped me off, I should have asked for pics or a better description, I'm sending it back. I'll drop it in the mail tomorrow, okay if I 'slow boat" it?"

Bryan: "No problem, I'll refund the $115."

End of story, no 3 page thread, no character bashing, no high BP, no whining, just off to search for an ad with PICS for a complete harness to finish my project.

But hey, that's just me.

^^^^ This. But I might be nuts.

I don't have time to rant over $8. I would pay it and avoid the seller if I thought he had intentionally mislead me.

Then again, I'm also too busy to chase down cars that speed through my neighborhood. Leads to a dull life.

Don't worry, next week the thread will be started "Docs! Diagnosed as Pre Hypertensive. What Can I Do To Lower My BP?"

Don't sweat the small stuff. I swear, I click on some of these threads expecting a Vagasil "pop up" banner ad....

OddJob, do you have a waterpump for a 1984 944?

Beer is available 1/2 block from my house so you don't have to drive to P/U.

Hey, ODDJob, the right rear valance on my 88 is a little lumpy. Could you bring a used one painted GP white over pronto and install it? What's that worth? 25 bucks? Pretty steep, but I guess for a perfectly straight panel, I'll choke up the dough.
I don't drink beer, so Pellegrino will do. (I like it iceee cold!)
And what's this about a free refurbished HK? I like walnut grips, caliber is up to you. Bring some ammo with you so I can go plinkin' while you work on my car, OK?

Call me when you get here.
