1981 Pontiac Phoenix (how appropriate for this thread). The only front drive car I've ever driven that's more tail happy than a 911. 90 staggering HP, and a timed 0-60 time of 14.5 seconds. Top speed near 90 MPH, and 20 MPG!!!

My 1st car was a 53 Ford 2 dr club coupe, black, 3 spd on the column, flat v8, with a bashed light and fender. I bought it for 200.00 in 1965, while based in Big Spring Texas, with USAF.Sold it for 140.00 11 months later, when leaving for tour in Viet Nam. When I came back I bought a 57 MGA..........thats for another thread....... (: It does not seem so long ago !!!!

Mine was a '76 Chevy Chevette, white with orange hood and Vega wheels, 4 speed. It was dependably undependable--it broke basically every Thursday, and took me until Monday to get fixed. Taught me a valuable lesson, though--any car can break, make sure you like the one you have enough to not mind fixing it.

Totalled it when a local furniture truck ran a stop sign 6 blocks from their warehouse and hit the passenger side fender. Blew the driver's front tire, pushed the battery into the alternator, and buckled the roof. No seatbelt--that's the last time I crack a windshield with my head until I get my telepathic powers... Amazingly, I sold the dead car for $125.

Second car was a '79 Civic. Interference motor--so the car was a paperweight when the timing belt let go on the highway after 10+ Michigan winters. Ironically, I was on the way to purchase an '89 Civic that had been, um, hit by a train.

Stock photo of the Chevette shown. Imagine a much rougher looking car.

1973 VW Squareback in 1980. 100k miles. Hand me down from dad. Repainted it and rebuilt the motor. Built a new interior. Drove it coast to coat, and back. Sold in 1985 at 160k miles. Toyota owner for 20 years until I got the dream 911.

My first car was a 1995 Mustang GTS, I bought the car stock and then decided to make it a little faster ;)

I put in a 1995 Mustang Cobra motor and a Vortech supercharger, and to be short I don't miss the car.

My first car was a 1974 Volvo 244 DL, which had a 2.1 litre 4 cyl motor. Dual circuit hydraulic brakes system and rust lots of rust. It cost me the princely sum of £250 back in 83, and I sold it for £50 to the scrap yard 2 years later. What a lot of fun that car was even although it was not the hottest looking…..

ChemMan 01-13-2009 03:41 AM

1974 Buick Lesabre. Bought for $360.
Second car was an audi fox.

A thread from the dead! :)

Another 'Vette here...1978 Chevy Chevette. Four door. Wish I had a picture of it. Picture this, but beige-y-brown:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1231868344.jpg

It was a hand-me-down. Mother drove it first. Then was older bro's car. Then older sis. Then mine.

First car I actually owned (although originally purchased by my Dad for "us kids") was a 1987 Dodge Colt Turbo (Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo). Nice little hot hatch. Good fun.

First car I actually purchased was a 1988 Porsche 944. Bought it in 1993 with 43k miles on it. Put over 150k on it in just over five years.

The rest...is a bit of a mess...

1972 Porsche 911T (now the famous "Tangerina Jolie")
1998 VW Cabrio
1984 Porsche 911 Factory "Turbo Look"
1999 Porsche Boxster
1995 Subaru Legacy Wagon
2002 Subaru WRX
1999 Porsche Boxster (now driving around the Dakotas - I think)
1988 Porsche 911 (now a beautiful backdated TRE creation)
2000 Subaru 2.5 RS
2004 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Ltd
1970 Porsche 911T (currently owned by TeenerTed in the beautiful PNW)
1978 Porsche 911SC Targa (currently in Europe)
2001 Porsche Boxster
1999 Subaru Forester

And, of course, the current stable:

1974 Porsche 911
2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5 (Doug's daily driver)
2005 Audi A4 Cabrio (Julie's chariot)
