my first car was/is a guards red 85 944na, I got it when I was 16, and I've had it for 4 years. Still loving it.

I feel bad now, my first car was the ever stylish 90 Ford Tauras family mobile. It got me from point a to b and I put 150k miles on it before it died, so all in all not a bad car.

My first "car" was my parents plymouth Voyager. I drove that for a year before I got MY first car. A '86 S-10 that finally died late last year with a warped head (bad temprature sensor).

my second car is the 96 Olds ciera I currently drive while the porsche's fixed up.

Well I worked the hardest job I ever had to save up 600 bucks to buy my dads old work car. It was a 66 chevy caprice. The thing was huge and heavy but it was a little sporty. It had 2 doors, bucket seats, a 396 cu in with holley 4 barrel and manifold.

It was a little slow off the line but at 80 mph it would still put you back in the seat. With a rolling start it passed everything but a gas station.

And as someone said earlier it had a big :D back seat

That i bought when I joined the USMC out of high school. Man was that a great car

On my 16th bday (1984) my dad gave me a 1979 GMC Jimmy (full size blazer) with a 400cid. God bless that man. I rebuilt the engine twice (seems to be my thing). In it's final incarnation with RV cams, dual pre-axle turn-downs and a monster holley carb, it could light all 4 up on dry pavement. I LOVED the thing. Pulled the backseat & AC out right away. All kinds of desert fun - I lived in SoCal then. Many trips to Anza Borrego and the colorado river. High school lunchtime was a special treat, with all that room in the back.

Saab 9000 Turbo -85 with 250000 miles on clock. I tuned it to oblivion but body was made out of bondo and ferroxide in the end... I drove it for two years and it never missed a beat. I still miss it... :-(

1972 ford capri. I put a 76 2.8 litre motor in it with high compression pistion, isky cam, edlebrock med rise manifold, solid lifters, dual valve springs, hooker headers, holly carb, mallory unilite ign. I put every suspension gizmo on at the time. It had flared fenders. Gotti rims-ohhhhh yeaaaa. Full cage, racing seats hearst shifter, lowered 3 inches. Painted ferarri red. I pushed that car to137(still had more) on highway 1 once racing a z28-the z28 crashed doing over 90-no joke-scary as hell. Nominated top 25 capri's in ca. It was stollen in san francisco in front of my parents house. Man was I bummed.

15 years old, I drug home a 65 bug with a rebuilt motor that didn't run for $150. The PO assembled it with the cam gear off one tooth. no interior, but it had a milk crate for a seat, a pair of vice grips for a steering wheel, and another pair for a gear shift. the stick was gone, I shifted through the rear tunnel. 1 year later I had my license and the bug was pulling one front wheel off the ground in 1st. Ran a best of 14 seconds flat at the bug in with no fan pulley (ouch), normal dial in was slightly higher. Paid for it by pumping gas.
Ahhh, simpler days.

Also 15 years old, bought a '72 Chevy Chevelle Malibu for $2600. Over the course of 13 years I replaced nearly every part of the car incluyding many go fast parts. After competing in an autocross or two I spent 8 years and untold thousands of dollars trying to make it handle like a Porsche. Last year I achieved that goal, by selling it and buying a Porsche!

Triumph Spitfire Mk III. Red. Not a great car, but to be 17 in that thing was lots of fun. Lots of fun.

My first car was a 61 Corvair Lakewood Wagon. A 16 year old Surfers dream. not a cool as a V-Dub Van but a lot lower key back in the Hippy Days as far as getting pulled over by the cops,( Just in case that was before your time they would pull you over at Noon and tell you they pulled you over because your license plate light was not working. True story it happened to me.)
I guess when you drive aircooled, it kinda just sticks with you. I
have had many aircooled cars including a Trabbi, several BMW 700's, Isettas 250,300,600 and 2-CV, numerous VW's.
Remember the only True water cooled motors are in Boats. Steve

Nearly all the 'first cars' mentioned were built before I was born. Is this the old geezers list? :p

My first was a truck, an '87 Toyota. Then I drove a couple MGBs, and then the Porsches. It didn't take me long to figure out the Porsche mystique. :)

1066 Delta 88 with a 455 ci engine. I guess that's close to 7000 cc's.
The 4 barrel carbuerator just dumped gas into the engine. (Horray for Fuel Injection.) It was strong for its day (mid 70's when I got it), but my 82SC could kick its behind.
The guy I bought it from rolled back the odometer (not much of a penalty back then) - I found out about it later - The car fell apart after a year. It was my first love, though.

At 17 I had the uncoolest car (a beige 1981 Mercedes-Benz 300D) at the coolest school in the world (Tamalpais High in Mill Valley, California).

My first car was a SAAB 96 -74. It had the V4 engine and 4-speed manual. It was a great car to drive, especially in snow with 15" wheels and frontdrive. In this car I learned leftfoot braking. I got from my mother and I kept it for 3 years. Sold it to the breaker for approx. 70 euros.

My first was a 1971 Ford Pinto!! Body kitted with Duct Tape! My girlfriend's father was so scared of that car that he used to let me borrow his 1981 528i to take her out... I guess that car had some redeeming value after all.

It was quickly followed by a 1969 Camaro... that was a great one and I'm still kicking myself for selling it!

I miss that car, and know I will own another Bug some time.

My first was a '70 bug. I wasted way too much time building that car from a shell starting when I was 13 years old.

901 5-speed, dual Dellortos on a 1776, early fenders, 911 H4 headlight lenses, no chrome, no bumpers, painted it Mexico Blue, etc, ect, etc.

I sold it after getting my first 914 - it is still driving around in my home town, looks pretty much the same as is did 15 years ago when I got it on the road.

74 914 2.0 Special Edition. Dad said I could have any car I wanted.. I just had to pay for EVERYTHING myself. Bank repo from a divorce. Handeled like nothing I had ever been in and ran really strong. I got my license taken away after four months due to too many speeding tickets. Small Georgia town, black Porsche, and bored cops do not mix!!!! Had to let it sit ALL summer but I got my fix by sitting in it at night and listening to the engine and stereo. Kept it three years and learned to autocross pretty well. Great car...wish I still had it.

Rusty 1960 356B sunroof coupe, cost $800 in 1968, parents paid half.

1974 VW Superbeetle, with factory A/C. I must say it was one of the most fun vehicles I have ever owned, and I've been through trucks, Jeeps, vette's, RX-7's, motorcycles, you name it.

There was a small car show here over the weekend, and there was a Superbeetle convertible that was gorgeous. If that had been available before I bought the Targa......Hmm........:rolleyes:

My first car was a 1972 Volvo 242. Green, 2 door, 4 speed with a wacky speedometer that moved a horizontal ribbon across the center of the dash, Like a thermometer. Strange design.

1989 mustang gt. 150 hp shot of nos. 5 speed, 308 rear end, with a host of bolt on mods. the car was and still is a legend in my home state.

77 MGB - the first car i ever drooled over -- when i was 6 years old! My grandfather owned it, and i bought it from him the summer of my 15th b-day. I have now had it for 6 years. In fact, after i am done with the porsche, the MG is getting a V8. It's 80hp 4 banger isn't doing it for me!

1969 VW Beetle, blue, painted on a friend's carport, black vinyl int, Sparkomatic cassette stereo, 1600 DP, Bosch .009 & Blue coil, Monza exhaust was too loud to order at the drive thru =)

My first car was an 87 camaro V-6 with a 5speed and an AM radio. It wasnt much but it was mine. I had an escort and a t-bird turbo coupe after. They were junk. I went to chrysler school, and really got into turbo power after having 2 daytona shelby z's. Then I wised up, and went back to Chevy's. I have a very fast 92 typhoon, and a 90 s-10 plow truck. I just sold my 95 camaro z-28 because I am bored with my very fast reliable chevy products. I needed something that needs more attention then a toddler, so I picked up a 76 911, and an 86 944. :rolleyes:

1974 Volvo 164 E Loved that car. Hand me down from my grand parents had about 70K on the clock. What a cruser orginaly white I painted it midnight blue metalic with alloy wheels.

A '68 Mustang 390 Fastback, bought it for $1,200 in 1981, a month before I started my senior year of high school. I paid half and the parents paid the other half. I am sometimes amazed that I survived all of the stuff I did in that car. Its still sitting in the garage.

1965 Bug was my first car, my dad bought it for me for $400. Love em so much i even still own one. Here's my 61 i tinker with, Presently i am collecting parts together to build a 2332cc 200hp street beast motor.
