A joke on a neighbors junk of a trailer backfired

I had a couple of Bud's over this weekend.-i.e friends.

We'd always make jokes for the last 3 months about the neighbors eyesore of a tent trailer that has been gutted to be made into a carrying trailer.

It is a dog at best. The axle is bent and the wheel hub is diverted at least 30 degrees. It's cutouts for furnace intake and fresh air are open/gone. It isn't even square.

It is truly a pile of junk.

On Friday night we had some ****s and giggles about what we'd ought to do about it.

We came up with making a huge sign out of cardboard and asking it for sale. We wrote out the sign in electrical tape and made the first word spelled wrong and asked for $750.00

We made a couple of hangers for it and went outside and hung the large sign on the trailer.

We laughed our asses off-WHO THE HELL WOULD PAY THAT CASH FOR THAT JUNK and the writing was wrong.

....Next day ........about 9 people stop and talk to the owner! In an hour it is SOLD and gone!

I/we cannot believe it. This pile of junk was sold and taken away after sitting there as an eyesore for months.

God is laughing at me now!

Hahahahaha!!!!! Hilarious.

We ought to ban you for a week for not posting a photo, though.

Awesome! Now you're a good samaritan. Not only did you rid yourself and the neighborhood of an eyesore, but you put a little money in your neighbor's pocket.

Good for you!!

;)

Almost went to the house to ask for a type of finders fee.

I'm not computer keen, so adding a pic. would be frustrating to the least.

And yes, it doe's look better around here.
BUT the question is?..why would anyone want this junk?...and it is!!..er, was.

Did you take a photo of it with your sign on it?

We can figure out how to get the pic into the thread, but is there a pic of it?

I dont have a snapshot so to speak- my bud does on his phone.

BUT- I have us/my Son making the sign. There is a part on the film where he holds it up and is completed ready to go.

I have no idea how to freeze frame and then transfer that frame?
I'd like to though.

I bet your bud could help you do it. Ask him if he'd like to help you spread the humor.

Thanks for sharing this story with us... funny stuff. :)

Dude. Let me borrow your masterpiece of a sign.

I think you may have found a solution to a few problems around my neighborhood!

My neighbor in Long Beach was trying to get rid of his old, worn-out, DNA-stained couch (eww). He had the thing out on the curb with a "free" sign on it for half the day with no takers. Finally I flipped the sign over, got a magic marker and wrote "$25-" Someone showed up and loaded it into a pickup truck and disappeared within an hour. Without paying, naturally. Problem solved. We both laughed a lot at that one.

There are a lot of stupid people out there who can be convinced that anything has value if you tell them it does.

My friend William had a similar experience with an old cast iron stove. He had put it to the curb, thinking the fall collection would take care of it. Uh uh. Too heavy.

In frustration, he pulled it back off the curb, a bit closer to the house. That evening, someone knocked on the door and asked his wife what they were asking for the stove. Without batting an eye she said $150. Sold!

Gotta love it.

I often use the line "you can't give junk away but you can sell it"

I had a treadmill that once I moved, I realized that I had no room for it (nor did I use it much). I put it on the sidewalk with a sign that said "$5" mainly as a joke, secretly hoping someone would just take it so I didn't have to deal with it. I left for an hour and when I came back it was gone...sweet!

The really funny thing was there was a $5 bill on my porch when I went to the front door:)

Thank You.

What I have are movies of what we were are creating and with my Son.
I DO NOT know in the simplest way how to freeze a frame and transfer. Plus I am on a lap top and it is even more exotic to me than my home computer. I load up pics. every week on the home computer but never on this acer laptop of mine.

If I knew how to download pics. I tell you I could have a lot of fun on this forum. I guess I'm just a nuts and bolts guy..ahhh forget about the nuts, I like big tits.
Best-2U.

Even in the company newsletter, if I list something for free, people rarely show up to collect. When something is free, they assume your time is free.

When my dad died in 2006, he left behind something like 20 working CRT monitors. I listed them for $1-3 in the company newsletter, and had them all sold by e-mail within ten minutes of listing them. I flat out told people that failure to pick them up would result in me going down the list to the next respondent. One guy did try to haggle me down from $1 and I flat out told him no. He paid my price.

When I moved I listed some garment boxes for $5 a pop. Some lady e-mailed me and said she would take all three. I rearranged my schedule to meet her, and she failed to show, so I called her. She told me that she decided she didn't want them after all, that's why she stood me up. I thanked her for wasting my evening.

Good for you, most people would buy 5 gallons of gas, put a rag in the top of the can, ligt it and run....
