Does that make any sense? It doesn't to me. Why segregate the XKE from all of the rest? The bones of the XKE are derivatives of previous models. I think the basic motor was designed in 1936 or thereabouts.

If I'm not mistaken, the big achievements of the XKE were the independent rear suspension with inboard brakes and the monocoque body/cabin. It is all space frame from the cowl forward which seems like half the car.

Could be, but I don't know how he could hate Jags for styling given things like the MK 4, 5, MK9 and 10 along with the D Types. And the stunning SS100's:

Congrat's on the job you did and hope you had fun, in relative terms. If any car is worthy of a restore, it's the XKE. Would I restore a car again, NO. The time, money, patience it takes is beyound me anymore. Enjoy it.
