I will have to buy a pump. a $60 submersible should work well in a pail. Then, just follow the procedure in the manual (Rinnai RC80PHi):

Man, I love YouTube. I have a Noritz tankless WH and found a step by step how-to video. My local plumber says to descale at least yearly using a "flow aid" solution. The plumber on the video says to use 4 gal of white vinegar. The vinegar may not be as strong as CLR but it's food grade so that's what I'm going to use about 2x yearly.

And that's an inline water filter that comes with the Rinnai. You clean it out as part of the process.
