Directional LED or ? to light up ignition switch at night?

The car: 1991 BMW 318is

Is there such a thing as a small directional LED or incandescent bulb that I can install in a blank dash plate to light up the ignition switch only? I'd like to turn off with a timer or when the engine is started.

Another item is a headlight switch that turns the headlights on after the car is started and turns them off when the car is turned off. Would a simple relay work for this one?

For your headlights I would recommend a relay that powers a relay.

I added one of these on my Lotus to delay turning on the HID's until after, time willing, the engine is started. In my case it gives me 10 seconds after the key is turned into the ON position before it lights up the hid lights.

DC 12V H3Y-2 Delay Timer Time Relay 0-30 Second 12VDC & Base

Should not be much of an issue to wire in parallel with your existing headlight switch.

Glow in the dark paint or tape? I have some tape on the light switch in my laundry room which has no windows. It glows pretty bright. No wiring, cheap.

Does the car not have a dome light? I just wait to close the door so I can see the keyhole.

Put some hair around it?

You need a light?

I have no problem finding holes in the dark....

Yes, it has a dome light (like a 911 - over each door) so it really doesn't light up the ignition switch.

I was looking for something a little more than leaving the door open. :)
