Berlin Germany 1967 Pics

These are not mine. I found these in a box purchased at an estate sale. There's one in there of a ship arriving in New York as well.

Wow, amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing! Germany is some place that we didn't get to while I was with my parents. They did take a vacation from Spain to Germany one year while dad was stationed in Rota, but I was in the states then. I was no longer a dependent, so no free trip to visit for the summer.

Me too. I was hoping to spy a shiny new '67 911S somewhere, but no luck! Here's the rest of them:

The Brandenberg Gate is still there and is where JFK gave his Berlin speech.

Your second picture looks like there's a 900 series P-car parked at the curb behind the fintail M-B.

Certainly a lot of Krautwagons around back in 1967.

I suppose an Allied soldier may have not had to worry either.

Edit. I stand corrected. That photo was taken from the west side, but likely while just inside the eastern zone. They had the border crossings 100m or so inside, so you were totally on their turf if things went south. That's a propaganda sign meant for westerners, as regular easterners wouldn't be allowed close enough to see it.

^^^ Interesting. Also, I really like the shot with the guy near the border gate looking through binoculars with the small child standing back near the photographer.

NSU Prinz, perhaps?

Thanks for sharing, Curt.

The pic of the fellow with the binoculars reminded me of a story told to me by a friend who was born in Saxony in East Germany in '64. Her grandfather was a baker, with a deep hatred and contempt for the Stazi. She recounted the day when he took her to an area close to the border and remembered the signs warning of the dangers of being in a forbidden zone. Her grandfather was showing her the various birds and when they were suddenly confronted by border guards, claimed he had no idea where they were, as he had been looking through his binoculars.
Later, when she questioned the old man as to the danger, he contemptuously dismissed the threat saying they couldn't afford lose someone who produced food.

Best
Les
