Acura TL drivetrain question
A co-worker has an Acura TL that's been having issues since day one: within the first few months of ownership, it had to have the clutch replaced (broke in two) and the transmission rebuilt. Now it is in for a new bottom end, as it's been losing oil like crazy. All of this has been covered by warranty. The car has almost 60k miles
She's wondering if there's anything else she should be worried about/have looked at before the warranty expires, and if these issues are quality or engineering issues. By the nature of the injuries, I think this car may have been thrashed by bored sales guys or lot monkeys; it had ~500 miles on it when she got it, although it was sold as 'new'. I picture them taking turns doing endless donuts or burnouts, which would have caused oil starvation and beaten the hell out of the drivetrain components.

The only big-ticket problem I've heard of with the TL has been with the auto trans, but that doesn't sound like it's the problem in your friend's case. And it was only for the first 2 years of the previous model ('04 & '05). Other than a window switch, our '05 hasn't had any problems in all our years with it.

They're not as great a car as you'd think. I've seen those types of failures on higher mile cars, but not usually with that low mileage.
Lemon Law no longer applies
