+1 - it's heavy and a little awkward to mount on the hitch, but it's the easiest bike rack I've ever had to mount and remove bikes. Doesn't damage the frame in any way.

I like the style of this one - 2 and 4 bike versions. It supports the bikes by hanging them from the top loop of the rim. OK for carbon fiber frames etc. I hate the clamp on the top tube kind I have - I have to fiddle with it to fit the assortment of bikes for that day.

4 bike version is for 2 inch receiver - you can remove the 2 bike module - $155http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1354730807.jpg

There are aluminum versions and other brand names - Highland, Rola, Reese- "Sportwing" seems to be the untrademarked name. The 4 bike version can loose the second attachment set and telescope down when not loaded. The reviews are favorable, especially for bikes that would require a "spanner" because of a non level, short, big top tube - which just about all of mine have. A 40 lb aluminum rack makes sense when you have light weight bikes to mount on it.

Simple, light, lockable.

Agreed!

I need to get a tailgate hitch that puts the cranks above the tailgate handle. This would allow my camera and backup system to continue working.

I have a friend with a rack from this company. It is the best looking and most over-engineered rack I have ever seen. It looks like aircraft aluminum with very nice workmanship and it is American made.
If I needed a new rack, I would buy from them.

Not a hitch rack, but I've been thinking about one of these for the P car

Don't buy the one at Harbor Freight.

I did.

It is only $40.

Sounded good for using it infrequently - now I use it fairly frequently and am annoyed by it.
It needs a lot of help from extra tie downs to work properly, especially if you drive your vehicel off pavement getting to the biking spot. The factory tie downs ripped after 2 uses.

Harbor Freight Sucks. Don't be a cheapskate.

I use the 1up USA rack but on my fiance's car we have a Thule so we can bring road and mountain on our trips:

I'll back up my opinion by saying I have a primary and secondary unit arriving via UPS tomorrow. $500 for the 1 or 2 bike flexibility. I'll try to pass it off as a Christmas gift for my wife - even though it "plugs in".
