obviously these suppress eddy formation and stabilize the boundary layer by distributed dampening

techweenie 05-21-2012 04:14 PM

Obviously.

Shuie 05-21-2012 04:16 PM

This is at least the 4th thing that has been posted here in the last 24hrs that needs to be added to the 'human race is done for' thread.

RWebb 05-21-2012 04:18 PM

well, that's what I read in J. Naval Engineering...

techweenie 05-21-2012 04:18 PM

I find this of less concern than Octomom's porn debut and the 1,000 lb woman, but that's just me.

David McLaughlin 05-21-2012 04:32 PM

I've seen these on a few Beetles, PT Cruisers and Minis.

Zeke 05-21-2012 04:35 PM

This has been here before.

UconnTim97 05-21-2012 04:35 PM

They are quite prevalent here in Philly, mostly on Beetles.

Perhaps. But I'd like to test that hypothesis versus the one stating that the interface of the lash strip with the headlight glass creates an area of negative pressure causing the lashes to deflect along a vector consistent with the negative y-axis and nullifying the distributed dampening.

Wait, what? Octomom had a porn debut? No, strike that. Nevermind.

Aurel 05-21-2012 07:39 PM

Carlashes in the front, bumper nuts in the back...:D

Down here in the south, and we're fond of the term 'like throwing a hotdog down a hallway'.......

I wouldn't say we were fond of it exactly.

You guys are over thinking this. They are vortex generators to decrease drag for enhanced fuel efficiency.

asphaltgambler 05-22-2012 09:25 AM

old news.......there is a woman 4 houses down has them on a mini.........see them every day...rediculous
