NYC during Memorial Day Weekend

If I recall correctly, NYC is dead over Memorial Day Weekend, correct?

Huge exodus on Friday?

Trying to plan a business trip, don't want to sit in traffic forever.

ALL day Friday...Thursday late, really.

When I was the Chief Pilot at the Sikorsky Factory in Bridgeport, CT, the first year I was there I made the mistake of thinking leaving by noon Friday headed south to Maryland would be workable.

Traffic on the NJT came to a complete stop at mile 38 southbound...yup, 38 miles north of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. No accidents, either.

It only got worse. Do not go nose-to-nose with Memorial Day traffic!

Why not take the AMTRAK, Shaun? I'd rather go to NYC by train anytime than drive there.

THanks Paul, if I went, it would have to be in and out Thursday it looks like. Jim, AmTrak is something like $150+ round trip during off peak hours. Going by car is about $100 in gas and toll and I get to come and go as I please, and I get to stop in CT to see my grandfather, which is priceless. Rarely have trouble with on-street parking in the City, so that helps.

thanks for the info gentlemen.

George, would still have to drive to Stamford, Mike would come down tomorrow if I had my glasses, now out for repair. that would be fun, though have a full day of running around the city.
