The 787 is a masterpiece (unlike the outsource mindset of some of the management types). I'd bid it if I were still in the saddle.

Yup Jeff, it's amazing what short time projects can be accomplished with billions and billions of dollars thrown at something that is what, 4 or 5 years behind schedule?
meh, a million here and a million there, takes a while for it to add up to real money.... I'm married to someone who counts the high level magic $$$ beans that have been swept under the rug, and the 787 is so upside down that the program chews up and spits out a CFO Finance officer every couple months because once they see the books, you get sucked into the void called the financial black hole of the Boeing 787 program which is a financial failure doomed to maybe never make a profit. Facts and data. Amazing when you see charts, containing numbers that have 2 commas in them, and the baseline chart number scale is "in millions".......... |
Dave - I'm trying to be supportive. Encouraging. It's in my own best interest. I would dearly love to see them build the rest of them in Charlotte...

This is a big event for South Caroline', ever since the Burger King burnt down. I didn't mean to make my post sound too brutal truthfull, so I'll lighten the mood some..........if you all care to sing along. "See the wings on the plane go up and down, up and down, up and down, the wheels be a turnin' too........." As Puget Soundatonians, we must be old and jaded to aircraft building since Bill Boeing started them in Seattle in 1909. Heck Renton turns out a 737 at one a day. |

:mad: I'm sure its a brilliant airplane but it will always give me a negative feeling. Sure, I'd fly it if given the right opportunity since I'm a whore to my industry but I'll never have the same affection for it that I do for the 747 or 777.
