Convection toaster oven or convection microwave?
Anyone have and use a convection toaster oven?
I've never had a toaster oven, and the ones that I've seen have been pretty basic, and were messes, but I think they were all back in the 70s or 80s before microwaves took over. My wife saw a convection toaster oven at someone's place and they said that they use it a lot, and it's great. I've heard that you can replace a microwave (mostly) with them, and for many things, they do a better job. I also know that there are convection microwaves. I think the first one that my parents bought was a convection microwave. I think they tried to use the convection cooker function once, and for the next 10-20 years that they had it, it was just a microwave. Does anyone have a convection microwave that uses the convection function. That would give us the best of both worlds if a modern one works pretty well. I'm not sure that this is a good idea, but I figured I'd ask you guys since there's almost always good info on just about any subject. I think my wife is trying to get away from the microwave.

micro with hot air convection are very expensive
we had a G E THAT DID BOTH but hard to find now but several times the price of a micro unit plus a convection unit and did not live a long time new miele we got super cheap from habitat for humanity is just a oven+ convection but works great for that unless you have very limited space get both as separate units or a stove/oven with the convection fans built in I would avoid a combo micro |

I have a convection micro air fryer. Works great, but a little on the small side.

I have had a convection toaster oven for a few years. Works especially great for re-heating foods. (takes a little longer, but worth it)
Microwave ovens make all foods tough. The micro just sits since getting the conv. toaster.

Does the outside of the thing get hot, or does it vent a ton of heat out of a vent?

The legs are 1.5 inches tall...so there has never been any trouble with counter heat.
Mine is just a cheapie...but it works great. (I think it was $70 new) Yes..the outside gets hot...never been burned from it. Mine is #2 on this comparison. https://cookingindoor.com/toaster-oven/convection-toaster-oven

I saw some article, and I think the price range of the top 3 or 4 models was something like $70 or 80 up to ~$400.
