This is sad news, indeed.
RIP, Doc Watson. I've enjoyed your music for years and years and years. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k20bNYzQXs4?version=3&feature=player_detailpage">< param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/k20bNYzQXs4?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> |
He and Chet Atkins have always been favorites of mine. I remember when my older brother turned me on to those guys. Mr Watson had such a huge influence on so very many, we won't see another like him.

Right there with Clarence White as one of the greatest pickers of all time. RIP Doc.

been dreading this news for some time. i got to see him a few times and im glad i did. learned a ton from studying his playing and enjoy everything he has done. RIP

Very sad news. Have seen doc many times. One of if not THE best picker ever.
His son Merle was damn good too. RIP Doc |
All I have is the Docabilly album. Of course I've never met him (or Chet Atkins) but they both struck me as much nicer guys than the typical music industry people (along with Wolfe).
