Amsoil
 

Was given a brochure for AMSOIL at a car show and was surprised by their range and
product line especially Z-Rod 20/50 which seems directed right at the older Porsches,
with great ZDDP numbers and a range of "european car formula" oils and 3 or 4 "racing
oils". Made it all sound good but maybe just talk. Anyone using any of these products? Although ZeeRod 20/50 might be a bit heavy for up here in Canada, I think they did have a couple of 10/40 products. ?? Just wondering, but for now I'll probably keep using 15/40 Swepco which seems to be popular on this forum.

I've used a variety of their products and have been happy with all aspects, well except the price.. I'm sure though, there are more knowledgable people that could answer.

There are a few guys here, myself included, who are dealers for Amsoil.
Search the forums and you will find that AMSOIL is discussed frequently.

I run the Dominator 15w50 in my 911.

I started using the ZROD 20w 50 in my last oil change, and I use AMSOIL in the wife's Prius.
I'm happy with AMSOIL, and they even ship the oil thru the USPS to where I'm stationed in Germany.

This data sheet shows the zinc and phosphorus levels in the Z-Rod oil, as well as several other of the Amsoil oils.

If Z and Ph are your goal for anti-wear, then use the Dominator.

Z-Rod has higher levels of rust and corrosion inhibitor additives, and may be a better choice for those people who store their cars, or use them infrequently.
