I read an article about a year ago that said washing your hands with soap and water is better than those wipes. The bottom line was that flushing the germs and virus away is more effective than trying to kill them. The author said wiping your hands thoroughly with a dry paper towel was more effective than those anti biotic wipes because of more friction. This was especially true of viruses because antibiotics won't kill them. Here is a similar article.

Less sanitizing, let yourself build up resistance to more germs. Lick your hands and rub your eyes every time you shake some one's hand.

This should do it.

I think we should take to sniffing butts as a greeting like our K9 friends!

The beauty of being a little snot nosed kid, with mud, slobber, random kisses, dirty socks, dogs licking me in the mouth, not washing the fruit I picked from Mrs Nelson's cherry tree and all the other (OMG) stuff I ingested as a little kid, gave me a body that can and has withstood all the bad things that have come down the pike. One year in Vietnam, in the remote crappy living conditions.
One year in Thailand, eating and drinking the most God-awfull stuff.
Hey... what happend to the FDA?
Honestly... If you want your grandkids to survive flu, colds and all the other miserable crap that effect us... get 'em sick while they are young. Let them drink water off the roof and get sick. The immune system will build up and they will be stronger for this.
Don't give your kids the anti-biotics. Make 'em fight it naturally. Makes them strong and eventually, they will overcome anything that tries to nail 'em.

Hand sanitizer? No thanks.

Pen on the debit swiper? No problem.

Faucet in the restroom? Why not.

Nothing like giving the ole immune system a workout.

RWebb 06-05-2012 05:32 PM

those comments re immune system are very true - it gets "trained" by being exposed to low levels of foreign bodies

re air travel - it has definitely increased disease spread

if you guys really want to get scared you will want to go to seminars given by research scientists with job titles like disease ecologist & forensic immunologist

also fun will be to read a book called Hot Zone

and BTW... it WILL get worse, for several reasons

The whole germaphobe thing pisses me off... hand wipes at the gas station and supermarket... please.

IMHO That is what is setting up our demise... weakening our immune system by trying to sanitize life... you don't see dogs, cats, monkeys using hand sanitizer and they see to get by just fine.

And humankind lived in filth for thousands of years...

Rant over... sorry
