2000 Ducati Monster 750

I am looking to get back in the bike game after being out of it for over 25 years. Locally there is this 2000 Duc 750 monster that looks to be in great condition with 8,000 miles on it. So what are the good/bad on this bike ? And what is a fair price ? I have a hankering for either a Duc or a BMW, yes I know two ends of the spectrum. Like the Porsche's it would be a fair weather rider and possibly a driver to work. So bike guru's bring me up to speed

I had a 2001 monster 900 but didn't put a ton of miles on it. No problems, just routine maintenance- including the spendy valve adjustment. With the CF Termis it sounded awesome, but would wear me out on long rides. I ride a Buell Ulysses XT now which is more comfortable and in my opinion handles better.

I see a couple of mosters daily on my commute, so limited DD duty is not a problem. You should be able to get it for under $4K, here's one for $3500. 2000 Ducati Monster 750 Dark

Yes as I do more web research the standard maint. on these is much more than other bikes. I like simplicity and have always liked Beemers so may go in that direction with a air head boxer. Always wanted a R90S and I see some guys convert to the S look. I'm in no hurry so I'll do my research.

Always liked the look but I feel like a gorilla on a tricycle on a Monster. I have a ST2 and it's just big enough to be comfy enough.

I had a 2000 900S. Loved that bike. I don't have a duc at the moment, and a 750 monster is on my short list.

Last year for carbs on the 750, has one front brake rotor, 5 speed trans, second year for 3 phase charging system(good), has a steel fuel tank (good) and the rest is similar to the other monsters of that era. With a set of free flowing mufflers and proper jetting it will put down about 60hp at the wheel.

Carb'd 2 valve monsters are the cheapest modern Ducati to service mainly due to accessibility.

That bike really doesn't have any common issues if it is maintained well. Timing belts should be replaced if they are 3 years old or more.

I've been a Ducati tech for the 15 or so years and i'm pretty local (Norcross) if you want to get a PPI done on a specific bike. Shoot me a PM if you need anything.

Hijack: so tell me how the heck do i richen up the mix on my 2012 evo? I flashed the ecu with the ProTune map but it won't let me tweak the injectors. <4000 rpm is a mess.

A buddy just sold his 750 Monster (maybe 6K miles on it) for $3K, FWIW.
