And the intern fun begins, FL trip on the books!
I've got the first week of my internship in the books. This is a very cool company, and the people I work with are great. I'm already scheduled to drive down to FL in late June, so I'll have to try to hook up with a few Pelicans along the way if I've got time...
I'll update you guys when I have a better schedule. ![]() ![]() |

Hope and pray that the A/C doesn't take a schit in any vehicle or building you're in. I don't envy you.

Company car, if the AC goes out, call and get it fixed on their dime... I don't do no AC....
I'm looking forward to seeing that part of the world though. Will be my first time in every state we go into. |

Intern fun evokes an entirely image in my mind. Of course, I live in DC.

Remember that you are there to work, and while the company wants you to enjoy yourself, be conservative in your on and off work doings. Don't let people egg you into doing stupid intern tricks and don't go overboard taking in the local nightlife. More than one career has been detailed as an intern by too much fun on the first company-sponsored road trip. Work extra hard and be extra quiet on your first work trips and earn the reputation as someone who doesn't play when he's away, and you'll have a great reputation back at home office and later you can start to losen up on the road trip (still within reason) without anyone batting an eye at you.

Definitely taking it easy MRM. I'm not a heavy drinker, and I've yet to find a bar that I just loved. We've gone over in detail with our supervisor how much is acceptable, when to draw the line, etc...
IDK Tom, this town turns into a corporate pub crawl on the weekends. From the interns to the managers, they all go out and drink like there is no tomorrow... |

You're somewhere up in SoDak right? That's nothing compared to Houston. I bet the beer is cheaper though.

Crooked roads if you come this way Sidney. I guess it may depend on what you're driving.

Don't know where your travels will take in you FL, Sid, but bring a change of shirts during business travel. By this, I mean in the car with you as you do your day appointments - I realize that you'll pack clothes for travel - LOL! The a/c is great, but if you wind up outside for even a little bit, you you become, well...steamy. A change of shirts will help you feel your cheerful, refreshed best!
If you get to Miami, do yourself a huge favor and try Cuban food, particularly Cuban coffee. Look for the cafeterias or anyplace you see workers lining up to a place with food ordered/delivered through a window (walk-up e.g. sidewalk not driveup like McDonalds). Simply FABULOUS! Also in Miami is the Oleta River State Park. You can rent a mountain bike there and explore the park. Alot of fun and a safe/sane way to blow off a little steam. No hills, but rocks and roots! Surprising bit of MTB fun right in Miami! They also rent kayak. South Beach? It's "all that" but go early in the morning. The light is fabulous, there is striking architecture, and the beaches are lovely, generally just locals out in the early hours. I've travelled extensively for work and found something absolutely beautiful that I've loved and met extraordinary people in every state! Have fun Sid and let me know when your travels take you to Oregon! angela

Cafe Con Trey - Tampa, FL, 33609 - Citysearch
tell Carlos T-Bird sent ya and I said Howdy from the frozen north... get the abialo sandwich (it has double mojo pork) Don't bother eating cuban food from anywhere else in Tampa. I swear everybody that works in the place has done time, but the food is awesome. Everybody else's cuban coffee is piss. |

They are all great guys in the place too. Funny thing too is they are all Puerto Rican and not Cuban. When I worked in Tampa I went there every day pretty much.
