30 long years...
Whatever happened it was just plain wrong to leave a baby untended in a tent especially knowing how brazen the Dingos were in the area near the Rock. = Child neglect and stupidity.

The parents weren't neglectful IMO. They've been in h*ll for thirty years- IMO virtually everyone in Australia (and everyone at that campsite) believed they were innocent and that this was a politically motivated prosecution- didn't want to frighten the tourists away you know.
Australia is a lovely place (one of my favorite places in the world) but you know there are things there (especially in the boonies) that could kill you or your child at a moments notice even if you're careful. Dingos are only part of it. I would have thought a child would be safe in a tent but obviously not. Last edited by cairns; 06-13-2012 at 07:09 AM.. |

We camp a lot (regular sites and backcountry) and live in the country, I see city folk doing real stupid poop all the time. Many don't even know how to start a fire. Even if they were just a few feet from the tent an animal in total stealth mode would be hard to detect.

I read the article in the paper..I don't see where they proved anything new..The only new evidence I see is a few cases of wild dogs killing children over the last 30 years and the blood evidence in the car turning out to be false....How did the jacket get taken off the baby so carefully ?
I'm only convinced that we will never know for sure what happened... |

Feelings in this country are mixed. Both senerios are plausable, only they really know what happened.

That was actually a big part of the puzzle. The question was, why was the baby's jacket found carefully folded?
Human intervention, yes - but rumours abound concerning a nearby homestead/farmhouse that was well-known for encouraging Dingoes by putting food out etc. They were considered nomadic pets. If I recall correctly, the theory goes something like: one of these tamer Dingoes stole the child, dragged it to the farmhouse and that the folks who live there freaked out and dumped the body instead of calling the authorities. The entire case was handled incredibly poorly. [Edit] But you're absolutely correct, we will never know.
