Yay, a happy day.

I averted a burglary at my house today :)

I'd just returned from talking the dog for a walk and noticed a guy standing across the road at the beach looking at my house. Sure people like to come to the beach and look at the houses too but with today's gawd awful weather it wasn't right. Plus the guy seemed a bit too animated, not chilled like us beach people are ;) so I walkied outside and stared at the guy. He turned his head away and walked off. Ten minutes later I saw some police cars outside and a few doors along and haha being a bit nosy I walked over the road to get a better view. One of the cops was my Community Patrol Boss Dean so I told him about the guy and he said that's who he is looking for in relation to a breakin four houses away. I gave him a very good decription and Dean emailed back to say they found him in town and have arrested him. I love a happy ending :)

Good eye, and good for you paying attention. If you had found him in your house what can you legally do about it there? You're in the Wellington area?

nice.!!

when my brother's home got broken into a few days ago..a policeman drove past the guy loading the truck of his small economy gray sedan. the cop thought nothing of it and drove on..(i cant believe he admitted it)

the crook got away...good on you for being alert to your surroundings..well done.

Thanks guys!

LOL, yes it has put me in a very good mood (I don't like being a victim).

Yes Hugh, I'm in Wellington in the eastern side of town.

If I found him in my house. Umm, I'm allowed to use "reasonable" force to defend myself and to restrain the guy. Hehe, he looked like the kinda guy that would put up a reasonable struggle. If I'd known he was actually going to break into the place right there and then... Well who knows, maybe I was in the back room cleaning the .45 and forgot it was in my hand LOL.

Same thing with me a few months ago. Difference was that the robbers were already busy in the house when I got there. I was really lucky as we discovered an axe lying in the back yard after they had fled.

Thanks guys.

I suspect the guy was a druggie and needed funds (or swap items for drugs) right now type thing. Me scaring him away then him breaking into a house four doors away at 9:15 in the morning.
