Axe thread
A lot of us play, and we see pics of our Axe's scattered about in various threads, how about an Axe thread?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1340061513.jpg My Peavey Raptor with Fender pots, pickups and a five way, My Epi Dot, (speaker killer) and my Ibanez S7320 seven string. I have had my left hand crushed twice and the wide neck on the Ibanez seems to have been made for me. |
Is this thread open to those who have an axe to grind?
|
Very nice!!

Nostatic is BANNED from this thread. (At least until Page 2)
My gigging bass. The Blonde. Yes, it is a Squier. I get LOTS of compliments on tone. I use the brightness to create thump. Yes, thump is possible from a Jazz bass. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1340063280.jpg The one I ignore. The brunette. Good bass, but too muddy IMHO. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1340063415.jpg My first bass. Still together, after all these years. Very early 1970's. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1340063531.jpg |
My last bass, an Ibanez ATK, it was very "Rick James"http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1340063771.jpg

It's just not possible for me to allow this thread to go past me without posting a shot of my own instruments - a Martin 00-21, a Martin HD-28 and a Santa Cruz 12-fret Dreadnaught.

My geetarzz all pretty weak compared to the one I'm still building which will be finished eventually. That pic was off my "band" website I made for a final project in my web design class. The Schecter is played 95% of the time though and that blue pos strat is really just a repository for random album stickers. Didn't realize it was so massive my bad. |
I actually thought this was an "axe" thread, so I never clicked on it. Check out these pictures of my Silverburst that my wife took:

I suppose I'll post this, since I just had some heart-breaking news.
This is a build that I've been waiting for completion since around 2004. The builder is Canadian, and it's was a trade deal. As we had spare time to do work for each other, we'd do work. The build was started around the same time. I found the piece of maple for the top on Ebay. For $20. It was ready for paint finally.... After a conversation yesterday, I got a phone call. There's been an accident with a router while modifying one of the routes. The top is unsalvageable as the 'Burst I wanted it to be... However, he does have another guitar he was buulding for himself.. higher $$ value, too, that he will replace it with. http://www.wolfetone.com/guitars/top2.jpg http://www.wolfetone.com/guitars/top3.jpg |

Some of the fine instruments pictured here are so nice I'd be afraid to pick them up or even touch them. I guess that's one advantage of a "Mexi-Strat" that came from a pawn shop- It's just a mexi-strat that came from a pawn shop! No big loss if a clueless "guitard" like me buggers it up! |
Just like Porsches are made to be driven, guitars are made to be played. Fortunately, there appears to be about 20 guitars in the world for every one player, but that means some of the girls get more attention than others.
|
Thinking of upgrading my equipment, found this at the pawn shop. Good purchase??

My wife's aunt worked at the Gibson factory in Nashville in the 70s - 90s. She worked in the front office. Every type of musician would come in and order or pick up their guitars. She was clueless as to who they were. Every night her kids would melt down hearing that another major rock group came in an and she treated them like any other off the street customer. She never asked for autographs because she had no clue who they were. It was just a job for her.

Don't know if it just a Nashville thing, but if they are not obviously trying to draw attention to themselves, they are usually treated no different than anyone else. Maybe just acknowledge that you recognize them, and move on.

Nashville is a cool place. A place where folks wear overalls.....in rooms with Stradivarius fiddles.
