It's not bugstrider's pup/story, folks. It's a story that his wife showed him. He's asking if there are any folks that can comment on what may have happened.

It's a horrible story for sure, for anyone that has a pet.

I've also seen people post on faceplant about Trifexis killing their dog and many other things. I don't doubt that bad stuff can happen in seemingly innocuous circumstances. I also take anything that I read on the net with a grain of salt.

If it's true (and I have no reason to doubt it) then it's a very sad story.

Oooops... thank you for setting the thing straight Steve, still is terrible and our thoughts will be with the owners of the dog in question then. We would certainly be inconsolable. Down here in the St .Johns River, Florida we are experiencing the blue-green algae bloom so those waters are off limits for our four legged crew.

The DOG thread

Sorry about the confusion on the story guys. It was a very sad story if it happened like they say. I was more curious on what actually cause the condition. It is something we haven’t seen in CA with the exception of “red tide” which occurs off of the coast from time to time. We have heard of bacteria causing serious issues to people, but not animals in that manner.

I would think that if it affected the pup they way it did, the owners would have felt some ill effect since they were in the same water. Not sure if they would have if, they had an open cut or something. I would just hate to see this happen to any pet, so if folks can be alerted to the potential risk, the better.

Again, sorry about the confusion.

Cheers

Good news indeed on Sherlock! I am sure he will feel so much better with the bad toofas removed. His name is even better. When we adopted Henry, his name was Sherlock. My wife thought he just looked like a “ Henry” and the interesting part was that he immediately responded to the name. We incorporated his shelter name anyway.
“Sir Henry Winston Sherlock”

My vet told me that there are people that do not stay with their dog when they make their last trip to the vet. Beyond my comprehension.

I know...I get it, we all know how hard that is but if you are there with them they relax...it is ok. If not they are nervous...where is my buddy?
My vet lives down our street...a good vet and caring.
Last time, with Sammy, he came by our house on his way home...so Sammy was in his favorite place.
Hell, the vet started crying....he didn't get into this business for that...but it is part of the cycle.

Tim, you're killing me. I've been through that 3 times. It would have been a comfort to have seen that at the time. Now - it's a reminder.

Madison was snoozing on top of her favorite ratty old pillow. She got so into it she fell off.

It wasn't TOO traumatic, she went right back to sleep, with her butt hanging off the sofa.

I'm a little worried about her. The vet said she has a small heart valve leak. She snuggled up close to my ear last night and I could hear it. Instead of Thump Thump, Thump Thump her heart goes Thump Thsheee, Thump Thsheee. I'm concerned, but the vet says she's ok for now.
