June 8, 1921 – June 20, 2012 “It’s been fun. I’ve had a lucky life,” Neiman said in a June 2008 interview with The Associated Press. “I’ve zeroed in on what you would call action and excellence. ... Everybody who does anything to try to succeed has to give the best of themselves, and art has made me pull the best out of myself.” Sports world artist LeRoy Neiman, official painter of 5 Olympiads, dies in NY at age 91 - The Washington Post https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/im...1Bf40b-b_ZdhPA |
One of my current projects...the client was showing me their newly renovated home interior and in the den - front and center on the wall - was a Neiman "Howard Stern" portrait.
This man's artwork permeated our society through many decades. He lived a long life and had a lot of fun doing what he did. Not much more one can ask for. https://encrypted-tbn3.google.com/im...jykHX0PBHUuONK http://www.hallmarkgallery.com/image..._7_72_pair.jpg http://www.centaurgalleries.com/Art/...-0806x0600.jpg http://p2.la-img.com/906/18365/6210868_1_l.jpg It will be interesting to see what Hef says about Mr. Neiman..... http://media.washtimes.com/media/com...5fdab25859e137 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-g...RoyNeiman1.jpg http://www.chriscomerradio.com/leroy...eiman_img1.jpg |
I'll go out on a limb and say that he probably had some fun in this life. We should all be so lucky.

I've never heard of him but his art looks good. I'll have to Google his name.
RIP Mr Neiman. |
Didn't he paint a BMW back in the mid 70's?
|
Always loved his artwork. Seems his was a life well lived.
RIP angela |
:( Always loved his work. Several years ago I saw the painting below (serigraph with production of 295) hanging on a display at Barrett Jackson. Somehow I never new Neiman did cars! Definitely one of the most expensive things I've ever bought that didn't have four wheels and an engine. Still love this painting. "LeMans Grand Prix d'Endurance"

I have some litho's from the Long Beach GP (GTP cars) by Leroy Neiman. Geussing from the late 1980's. No disrespect, but I never like the pieces and are stashed somewhere. Would like to rid of them.
