I don't hate her... and "like a screen door in a hurricane" as they say. Why ask why? A bunch a guys have racing teams because there father (or grandfather) was a good racer. Like it or not it all comes down to publicity... and Danica marketed herself well and deserves every dollar she makes.

no offense to fans... but WHY!? While he does exude "nice-guy", as opposed to his "daddy's" would be bad-ass arrogance, $300mil is a lot for someone who has just won his first race in how many hundreds?

143, if you meant Sprint Cup races, although he won a showdown race that nobody seems to remember and also won on the Nationwide tour during that time. He's not the first driver to go through a slump, nor will he be the last, but he's still 40* wins ahead of whats-her-name, so he's got that goin' for him. JR |

Re Danica Patrick
The facts:
She can competently drive a race car She has 1 Indy car oval victory (Motegi) She is very physically fit She is coveted by sponsors, TV and press She is rich and famous Personally I don't care for Danica as a racer or female person. However you have to concede that she is a successful business-woman by anyone's standards. DP

Danica needs to give it up before she kills someone or kills herself....
Updated Jul 15, 2013 12:34 PM ET LOUDON, N.H. Danica Patrick triggered a three-car accident when she rear-ended her boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The collision propelled Stenhouse into Travis Kvapil entering Turn 2 on Sunday to bring out the ninth caution on Lap 237. “Did he just right rear us?” Stenhouse asked over the radio. “No, it was the 10,” replied his spotter Mike Calinoff. Patrick had been running on the lead lap prior to contact with AJ Allmendinger on Lap 218. But after initial damage to her car, Patrick was just hoping for a decent finish. “What it felt like was either I misjudged the braking or everyone jammed up a little bit,” Patrick said. “I got sideways trying to slow down so that I didn’t drive up into the back of anyone. I just got sideways and there is nothing you can do. The worst part is that you know obviously I didn’t want to take anybody with me. I feel bad, what can I say. We were having a reasonable race and just didn’t mean to do it.” NOTE: Patrick completed 237 laps and was posted 36th at the time of her report. The car was in the garage under repair. She did not return, finishing 37th. |

Watching sportcenter a while ago.
Ont the little scrolling text bar on the bottom of the screen it was displaying the results of some roundy-round race. 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, 5th place, 23rd place (D patrick). Why do they show her finish no matter what, even when she does terrible? Simply because she has a vagina. ESPN and the media are telling us that women can't drive worth a ****, so the fact that a female is doing it is simply fricking amazing and we should all be impressed with a poor finish from one. I do not agree. She should have to earn her sponsorship, earn her credentials, earn her place in the racing world by her skills instead of with her vagina. She should not be allowed to take away a sponsorship from a more talented and deserving driver just because of what is or is not in her pants. Until then she's just a sideshow freak, a curiosity that will soon fade away after a career of mediocrity. |

There's a lot of people paying and lining up to see her do poorly Sammy.
edit...I worded that poorly. I don't mean to say they pay to watch her lose. But rather she is a box office draw.

I agree with Sammy to a certain extent. Being a minority as well as female, I never understood mandating hiring a certain number of women or minorities at a company to give "equal opportunity". Although I know prejudice still exists out there, I would just like to prove my non-supporters wrong by not only meeting the requirements but blowing everybody else out of the water so there was no choice but to accept I was the best choice. Yeah, I don't particularly care who came in 26th, whether it was Danica or not.
But questioning why she gets sponsorships or endorsement money? That's a silly question. There are MANY past athletes that were not the best and got plenty of money whether from sponsorships or endorsements. Whether its because they were good looking, caused some kind of controversy, or just plain didn't fit the general mold, there are many athletes that were mediocre in their sport but sure made a lot of money outside of it. Why? Because they caused interest or stir. Sponsors can sponsor whoever they want. Maybe it's not necessarily to produce the best athlete but rather push an idea or character. In this case, a woman. Whether you like it or not, there are a lot of women out there that have a lot of money to spend and in most markets, the female market is untapped, ESPECIALLY in areas where men used to dominate. It's just business. Plain and simple. Would I as Danica pose in bikinis in race cars? I don't know. Depends on what I want. Do I want to be seen as a successful race driver? Forget the bikinis. Let's win some races. Do I want to be seen as a woman who successfully entered a sport that is dominated mostly by men and make the most amount of money as I can? Well, bikinis sure make a lot of money I have to say. I surely don't like or hate Danica but more power to her for ensuring that the masses keep talking about her... whether bad or good. It keeps her marketability alive. So good for her. |

So, did she win a race yet? Without an asterisk, I mean.
