Need suggestions for a nice womans wristwatch

I have an anniversary coming up next month and would like to buy my wife a nice wristwatch. Any suggestions from anyone with experience?
I would like to keep the budget to under $1000. She is not into sporty watches, so I am looking for something classy and in stainless.
TIA!

You can buy some nice ladies sized Tudors and Rolex's for much less than the men's watches.

As a valentine gift,I bought my wife a nice two tone gold and stainless rolex with diamonds set on the dial as hour markers. It looks very classy without being too flashy. I paid about $2100 on Ebay

Don't know if you shop pawnshops but if you do, offer far less for a woman's watch than you would for a similar quality man's watch. They are hard to move.

Vintage. My wife has been wearing my 45 YO Omega and she also wears an antique flip open lady's watch as a pendant. That one belonged to my great, great grandmother. Probably worth around 4-500.

Watch geeks look down on Tag Heuer as (mostly) mass-produced quartz stuff. But I have a couple, and they're fantastically reliable and durable. And they don't need to be wound (unlike mechanical watches), which is particularly nice because of the tiny crowns on womens' timepieces. My wife has a 2000 model and likes it; I think they're called the "2000 Aquaracer," now.

I agree on the Movado. I have bought a Movado for my wife and it is very elegant without breaking the bank..

I'd suggest a used watch. As an example, I just sold a vintage 14K yellow gold Longines for under $700. It was very small, had a diamond bezel and kept surprisingly good time. As noted, used ladies watches are not big sellers, so there are deals to be had. In my opinion, you won't find many small, elegant watches for a woman from the mass market brands and they aren't anything special in terms of their construction. It will be hard to find a decent Rolex in your price range, so I'd suggest looking at the less popular brands.

I only buy mechanical watches for myself but my wife doesn't care, and I think most women don't care so I get her Omegas, they make some good looking womens watches, battery operated, and good quality.

i find it kinda hot when a woman wears a men's watch. a smaller one. i have a tag i got a long time ago. i quit wearing it, because it is on a smaller size. i was gonna get the bracelet sized for my wife, so she could wear it..then she dropped it on concrete. the bezel exploded off of there.

ironic, because i dont get it when a man wears a very small watch. my coworkers, two of them have these tiny almost feminine watches..looks weird.

Does she like watches? I tried this once only to find out she could care less what was on her wrist, unless it was a bracelet.

Brietling. As for used, Timezone is a great site to peruse for a variety of watches...so many out there.

I might be panned for this one but here goes:

Find your local independant jeweler.

Seiko makes a nice solar watch. Multiple face choices and was available in stainless.

Take saved money and buy a nice ring, necklace, other item for Wife. You might be surprised what a good string of pearls costs. Not the top end, but even the mid range quality looks nice and most people cannot tell the difference from polite distances.

Most of my watches (watch geek alert) are large Seiko divers... however I always dreamed of a vintage rectangular Hamilton. Bought myself one for my 50 birthday and yes it is tiny compared to the others. Conversely if women are wearing giant watches why shouldn't men be allowed to wear small watches?

To the OP, can't go wrong with Movado, Tag (sad I sold off mine), or Brietling.

I like the Citizen eco-drive line, they charge with light so no winding AND no battery to change.

this

I got an ex girlfriend a very nice Bulova, in the box, for like a third of what it would have been at a jewelry store.

I was going to say Ebel, but that is a bit over your budget. Get a pretty one, she is probably not going to care about the brand as much.

This is the really only good advice on the thread, now that I think about it.

Why a watch?
