Free money making tip....
Somebody needs to make a CD of all the different non normal(really what is normal?!?)sounds the different Porsche engines make. I see(hear?) all the different complaints about Porsche engines in the different forums and these complaints cry for attention. Somebody put these "poor" people out of their misery. There is no substitute! Could be called "200 odd sounds that require immediate attention".
Ayeeeee! |
There's already something like that for air-cooled VW's
|
And then see a product which will read the RPM of your engine and duplicate the Porsche engine sound out some weatherproof speakers...
|
That's going to be a tough index to create.
. . . vvvrrrwwerrr vvwrrrwwerrr vwwrrrwwerrr . . . |
Then hook it up with Shazam and you just hold your iPhone up to the car and it tells you what is wrong.

The new Porsche museum has "sound cones" you can stand under and listen to the different engines. It was quite impressive. The different car names are displayed above in a circle with LED readouts.

I have an old 33 RPM disc with sounds of all kinds of racing. The Ferrari at Bonneville is the last track. You can hear the solo engine all they way down the track until it fades away. I must have played the last track a 1000 times. I could make a loop and never get tired of it.
The thing is, there are a lot of collections of motor sounds you can buy in HD. If you've got the speakers, you can make the ground shake just like standing next to a Cup stock car idling. One of the richest sounds in America. |
Don't think that it would sell in large numbers. It may be a better hobby project on YouTube.
I sure know when mine sounds funny. G |

"Slap slap slap. Like that."

Or you could put your phone next to the Porsche engine after you have phoned your indy garage. The well versed technician would be able to diagnose the noise.:):)
