Waze Navigation App
Anyone here using Waze on their smartphone? Just started using it when my bro-in-law said he liked it.
Seems like an interesting idea -- get the people driving to update the traffic/speed traps/construction issues/stopped cars on the road. You can even update gas station prices for everyone else to see. With links to facebook & twitter, it combines social networking with navigation. It has the ability to create groups that travel the same route you do. My biggest concern is the distraction factor. If folks on waze are constantly updating traffice conditiions and speed traps, that may lead to other 'wazzers' having to add more addicents due to distracted waze drivers. Thoughts? -Z |
I use it. Good navigation functionality. My iPhone speakers are not as loud as I'd like for this use.
The alerts are interesting, I don't pay much attention to them or contribute many, since I'm not much of a speeder. I guess the traffic jam alerts could be handy in SoCal. Apple is adding navigation to iOS but Waze's crowd-sourcing feature may still distinguish it. Overall, it is one of the apps I use more often. |
love it. great for cops and traffic, I've changed routes to avoid traffic from an accident on 2 occasions, one was a burning car on the Mass Pike that had traffic backed up for miles. navigation is fair to good.
cops feature you can't rely on but best used as a guide. Has worked a few times, but there will always be times when there is a cop somewhere that hasn't been reported. |
Started using it about a month ago.

I love it and it now posts cheaper gas prices on it... I use it everyday just for the alerts

I use it all the time (working on getting "the sword"). It's great. That plus a V1 plus a good set of eyes / common sense pretty much reduces the chance of my getting busted by a speed trap to nil. And it helps with situational awareness. Very good app. The navigation is only as good as the GPS so keep that in mind.

I am trying for the "crown" right now.... I've had the "sword" for a few months...

Hands down probably one of the best apps I have downloaded... Typically the alerts show up when you are stopped (like at a red light). When you pull away, they go away. If you have bluetooth or an iPod connection in your car, the audible directions will be picked up on the car's speakers. Map zoom is speed sensitive, which is great and it has day/night coloring scheme. Spent the past weekend in Philly and used it all weekend to get around. Love it!

I've been using Trapster for several years. Can someone explain how Waze compares?
