A baseball cap doesn't represent or imply service, I believe you can get them at any ship museum.

Wear the hat, just don't pin on any kind of rank or qualification you didn't earn.

Even as a kid I would not wear rank , qualification badges or tabs, its not easy earning them, so its just not cool to wear them as jewelry

I too have been given T-shirts & hats in the past, one hat I can't wear, it says Air Force Retired, and has Col wings..
