That is WONDERFUL NEWS Manny. I'm sorry I didn't see it- my membership lapsed so I didn't get it.

Is her name Michelle BTW? She really is that good.

He looks at the car, looks at me, says "we'd love to have this thing as part of the event for as long as you are here" moves the cones and waves us in.

That's car culture.

I went to the German Autofest in Ventura a few years back... a little concerned my 944 would get dissed so didn't sign up for anything. Got there just as the gates opened because I wanted to have time to see everything. I tried to use the parking lot but the guys kept waving my on and pointed to a spot inside the event on the grass for me to park.

That and as I pulled into the hotel and parked two guys ran up and started drolling...

Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't sell it after all.

Oh, and I bought an oil filter from (I think) Wayne at the PP booth!

I like to think our entire paid staff, 9 people, are phenomenal. They love the members and put customer service as priority #1. 7 of them work at the HQ in Columbia, MD (and, no, I don't have an office there). Because of them, I can be President and still hold a real paying job. And yes, Michelle is one of the staff at HQ. I'll pass along your kind words.

More amazing is the volunteer national staff numbers 144 people. Probably explains why our annual membership fee is only $46.

I was a PCA member for 27 years. Even co-founded a Region. PCA is like any other club -- 80% lurkers and 20% participants. A couple of times, my schedule was uncertain so I didn't sign up for the Parade and then just "dropped in." It was plenty of fun just being there among the awesome cars. I recommend it to anyone who isn't able to register to attend.

I would say I am 20 years younger than your average PCA member. I'm 37.

I joined when I was 22... And was very active on the board the 1st 20+ years..

Unlike what some members on this forum may feel, PCA is the best car club in the world. 107K members can't be wrong.

btw, I drive a 1973 914 :)

This isn't a 914??http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1340928266.jpg

Is the 930 you bought in Boise blue with twist rims?

I saw it when it came in to LP if so.

Nice Manny - always have been impressed with your involvement. It's what the club needs (more posts on PP off-topics!)

Keep up the great work,
Bazza :)

LP=Lyle Pearson. Porsche (& Land Rover, Mercedes, Acura & Volvo) dealership in Boise.

I saw your car when they first got it & I was looking for an SC- local trade, I believe.

Is Vu Nguyen still there? I met him years ago when I was inspecting commercial trucks... Then again when I decided to join PCA. Odd to meet someone twice in two such different areas...

I would think a 930 would draw a lot of friendly attention, I bet you will have a good time.

yep...what he said..have fun. Don't go to local meetings.....(yawn)....

Manny Alban 06-29-2012 04:24 PM

Angela-yes, Vu is still the PCA Executive Director. Great guy who manages the national office. He figured out something I didn't-how to get paid doing Porsche and PCA stuff :)

Vu is my region rep... I'll give him my support if he decide to go for the Grand Pupa job :D:):D

Join the PCA so I could participate in our local coffee Run.

Did talk to the head office a few times and they are really customer oriented.

Looking forward for changes under new management :):D:)

Manny Alban 06-29-2012 04:44 PM

Don't thnk Vu's wife would be too happy if he went for the Grand Pupa job :) PCA President is volunteer. Volunteer=long hours, no pay :) . Vu's a paid employee of PCA.

Update....

I have been in contact with the PCA last week and we can put this issue at rest.

I do realize PCA and in this case the parade is the hard work of many volunteers and this close to the date changes are hard to accommodate. One thing I learned during our conversations this week is that apparently the deadline was already extended due to a later start of the registration.

I sincerely apologize to the many hard working PCA volunteers if my original post was a bit harsh towards the PCA.

Thank you Manny for helping resolving this issue!

Ahh ok.. Yes it was a local trade. I think the original owner traded it on a Cayman.
