This is how Nelson Mandela must have felt

I'm a free man. SmileWavy

It's official. At approximately 0330 zulu on 23 June, I successfully navigated across heavily infested commie territory to Free America. I was aided by resistance members who shuffled me from safe house to safe house while dodging public referendums to limit soda size and tax increases to fund transsexual pubic hair transplants. I'm happy to report that this morning I applied for and was granted indefinite political asylum in the beautiful State of Nevada. Reno, to be exact.

On a related note... I just formed my own LLC and will shortly be applying for my 07 FFL. I'm now officially a CEO of a completely worthless company. ... kind of like Facebook.

Reno...ok. Try to get out of town once in a while, I guess.

Not only do you have lower taxes now, you also can skip dental insurance and the dentist altogether! You want to fit in you know! ;)

I couldn't do Reno with a young family - but you have a little time before yours hits the schools and makes friends!

07 FFL? Isn't that manufacture? You gonna do your SOT for NFA stuff as well?

9dreizig 06-28-2012 04:48 AM

WELCOME!!!! as I tell people it's a slitty little city but it kind of groans on you!!
Let me know when you want to get together for an adult beverage.. What part of town are you living in ?

red-beard 06-28-2012 04:50 AM

You're not free until you're in Texas. Nevada and Arizona are close.

craigster59 06-28-2012 05:05 AM

Reno is so close to Hell you can see Sparks...

in all sincerity,, Reno is a great little city.. the downtown has been cleaned up significantly .. only 30 min from Lake Tahoe.. 40 min from Fernley ( a very fun track),, good airport service.. business friendly. I wouldn't hesitate raising a young family here.

Welcome to the great State of Nevada!!!

It probably works if you aren't a foreigner (or hispanic). To me it would lack diversity. Of course that's just me - most people probably would like it there. It definitely is a step up from the central valley! ;)

Hidie-ho Neighbor. Well, soon to be neighbor (building a house in Sparks).

9dreizig 06-28-2012 09:10 AM

emcon, do you track either of those cars?? I'm out at Fernley with SCCA and HOD whenever they are there..

emcon5 06-28-2012 09:38 AM

The race car is in pieces, I plan on putting it back together when we get to the new house. I have tracked the 911 at Fernley, before they added all the new track, It was pretty fun. I did a 2 day school there when I was working on getting my race license.

I have heard the tack condition was pretty poor, such that SCCA won't race there, they are afraid it would damage open wheel cars and sports racers.

9dreizig 06-28-2012 09:47 AM

the track eats tires!! rumor has it that scca is looking at sanctioning it again but who knows??
it's a great track and a lot of fun!
Where are you living now ?

emcon5 06-28-2012 10:50 AM

Truckee.

Pelican Meet-up at the Washoe County Shooting range?:D

Did Nelson Mandela move to Nevada to get some type of gun license? Does he now consider normal Americans to be commies?

The things you learn on this board!

I dunno . . . Did TX get an Obamacare waiver? ...Nevada did.

Sorry, but Californians, at least the ones in charge, (and those who put them there from LA and and the Bay Area) are pretty far from "normal" Americans.

Make sure you wave your arms periodically while taking a dump, you wouldn't want the California mandated bathroom motion sensor to turn the light off on you......

You know. For the children.

Anyway, back to Reno.

Lee, one of my favorite driving around Reno games, "Spot an advertisement on a Taxicab that is isn't for a titty bar or whorehouse" :D

Lots of fun. So far, my score is zero.

My sardonic sense of humor can definitely come out the wrong way so I apologize if my original post came across as insulting or insensitive. I have this habit of forgetting that the entire world does not share my views on everything.

That said, I am definitely happy to be here. My first choice was Boise, but my wife didn't want to be too far from her family and decided to fight fire with fire by finding a job in Reno before I could find employment in Boise. So, Reno it is!

We live in Spanish Springs and really like the area. I am applying for my 07FFL with a 02 SOT to follow shortly thereafter. Joy!

Anyone know anything about web development???
Here's my site:

Sierra Ordnance Company

I'm definitely down with meeting any local Pelicans whenever! I've got lots of time on my hands. I may be Porscheless but I still have 911's in my heart.

No kidding, where at? That is where we are building, off La Posada at top of the hill.

What rifles you planning on building?

Have you been to the Washoe county range yet? It is north on Pyramid 15 miles or so. 200 yard range, with steel plates out to ~950 yards.
