Best way to obtain foreclosure information.
Well after 5 months of unemployment, I am on the verge of accepting a job offer which will require relocation in the near future. In doing so we have been contemplating building, but have thought there might be some good deals out there.
I have searched the net but every site wants me to register for a "free trial" which I don't want to do. So what's the next best way to find these homes in a given location with addresses? Thanks.

ziprealty.com is mostly foreclosures and short-sales. You can do a search for the cities you're interested in, and you can specify the criteria you're looking for -- price range, amenities, foreclosures, short-sales, traditional market, etc.
No pressure at all. Every day at ~ 3:00 a.m., you'll get an automated e-mail from the local agent showing any new listings that fit your criteria, with the addresses and photos. You can respond to the e-mails if you wish. If you don't respond, they'll continue sending new listings every day until you tell them to stop. Seems like a good company. Homes for Sale/U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
We used the HUD site and found it to be rather helpful.

A friend in the commercial RE business uses realtytrac.
I believe they do require a subscription though - at least for some features anyway.
