I mean she (or the script writer) is comparing a technology Push product (the electric car) with technology Pull products of the past. And then she (or the script writer) says that the nay sayers saying nay signals that EV's will be successful because there have been nay sayers for the successful inventions in the past. ...yeah? . .. but Yugo, DeLorean, Enron and New Coke had no nay-sayers? (so they failed) Seriously, that's some mental gymnastics going on only to produce contorted logic. ...which brings us back to the above cartoon and "Comforting Lies." |

Most of the power outages I've experienced over the past couple of decades lasted in between 20 minutes to several hours, and usually happened end of summer when tems climb north of 100 and all ACs run @ full blast. If I owned a Model S, chances are I'd charge it at night when the energy cost is less, and when/if power outage happens I'd plug it back in and used the battery to run my home - essentially using the car as an energy storage. I might even invite my neighbors to enjoy my AC cooled living room.
My flat roof would also be ideal for about 81 solar panels that would average the 85KWh needed to fully charge a model S (free of charge) - not to mention - my 23mile daily commute would only require charging once/ twice a week. the extra free energy generated by the could be stored in a built in energy storing device, and the remainder pumped back into the grid at peak hours when the electric company will pay the premium.....just saying |
