Guy spans entire history of rock n' roll with 100 riffs

Or what you will here anyday at Guitar Center when they are trying out guitars.

Guy spans entire history of rock n' roll with 100 riffs

Long but not bad.

I bet he doesn't miss a day's work.

Nice

allaircooled 06-30-2012 02:24 PM

Very cool! Thanks!

Gogar 06-30-2012 02:53 PM

It's cool he played every song in the right key, (not counting the SRV 1/2 step down stuff, etc.)

Listening to them makes you realize how catchy some of them are. I'd have to say "don't fear the reaper" 37 is one of my favorites. No steely Dan is a minus! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3hMhvdBPYGc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Some unusual choices -- The Smiths leapt out at me.

Cool! FWIW Chicago Music Exchange are great to deal with...they know how to treat a customer right.

Cool video. Fun. He really did a great job with that.

Has the ownership changed? They have had one of the worst reputations in the vintage guitar business for changing parts on old guitars and sharking at the guitar shows for many years.

Dunno...I'm (very much) not into the vintage scene. I ordered a new guitar from them (first time I ever bought a guitar sight unseen) and they handled everything very professionally.

Shuie 06-30-2012 07:20 PM

Cool. Glad they handled everything well. That's good to hear.

Enjoyed that 12 minute show. Thanks and forwarded it to my nephew in 1st grade who's taken up an ax.

^^^Of old guitar parts, I know the original Daka-Ware knobs are sought after but the company also made machine knobs. By chance, does anyone know a source for the originals?

And... the incredible artistry and subtleties of Mark Knopfler, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton and a couple of others prove to be way too difficult to master and/or replicate.

True fans of the music should find comfort in that. :D

The rest of it was kinda fun, though.

Buckterrier 07-01-2012 05:21 AM

Thanks for posting, that was awesome.

I enjoyed every minute of it, but couldn't help noticing that he passed up a whole bunch of very significant old riffs to get to some fairly obscure riffs in the last 35 or so.
You can tell his age in his selections.

My thoughts exactly. Pretty cool.

I agree.

Not a huge of Frampton, but he should have certainly been in there...
