VW dealer service

My wife's car had the head liner replaced and the drivers side window worked on when we had the oil changed. All of this was under warranty.
console falling down

Bugs in the light now.

Look at the screw driver marks.

There is also a pick on the passenger side door panel now.

My wife is mad as heck, and I did not show her all of this she found it.

Take it back.

Make sure it's busy day with people in the waiting room.

Calmly ask them in an "audible" tone if this meets their quality standards.

I took my previous Vw to have warranty body damage fixed. When i got it back it had 2 door dings.

When I bought my new one a few weeks ago, the license plate was screwed on with one correct size and one that was way to big, one phylipps one regular. Not too happy bout that since they are screwed into plastic bumper an now one hole is too big for the proper screw.

I won't own another VW simply because I was so horrified by their service. Worse than the mafia.

+1. I really like the GTi and the TDi Jetta but I have been screwed too many times by VW in the past to ever give them another opportunity. The pictures above show a similar level of "service" that we got from our local Ford dealership when my wife was in a newer Expedition.

The only VW I would consider at this point is an air cooled 911

Yes, definitely march that right back to them and let them know they have to do it right.

It's sad reading the comments regarding dealer service, as the place where I have bought most of my VWs is no longer an authorized dealer (a family operation which was too small to keep their franchise 10 years ago), but they still service my car.
I have called them at short notice and they get me in and always do their best to make it right, usually the first time. I'm quite happy to buy used cars they pick up at auction and have checked out.

One of my wife's co-workers took her dented (deer hit) Golf into the nearest (an hour away)authorized dealer to get repaired. A few days later she got a call telling her to come in. When she got there, not only was her Golf not repaired, but there were two more dents on the other side! To make matters worse they would not admit they had called her.
I think she has bought her last VW.

Best

Wow, sorry to hear this about the dealers. The dealer that I have been using here in Brooklyn has always been top notch. Prompt, courteous, very clean. Never had a problem.

Every dealer no matter which car you own is (I presume), going to have different standards for customer satisfaction.

The NoVA VW dealer we bought our car from was just plain worthless. When we moved into the.city, we started going to the Bethesda dealer for service, excellent, so far.

Take it back. That work is unacceptable.

Even I can take a trim piece off without marking it.

If you google Jetta headliner you will see headliners coming unglued is a very common issue.
The headliner in wife's 2006 Jetta was literally sagging in the middle when the glue let go last year. Out of warranty and dealer quoted $700 to replace it. The VW service mgr. told me to take it to this local auto upholstery shop. I took it in and he replaced it for $195, did a great job and the material he used was an exact match for the original.

Next issue, the paint on all the radio controls is now sticky and peeling off leaving white buttons, etc. Only option here is to replace the radio which isn't going to happen.

Car now has 85K miles and has been a great car with absolutely no issues (other than the above).

Dealers in NJ are hit and miss.
I won't go the local dealer where I bought my Jetta TDI, as at the 100,000 belt change, he forgot to torque the engine mounts, and 800 miles later the engine fell out. (this diagonosis was from the dealer that I had the car towed to - he told me this thinking I had done the belt myself - they will never trash another dealer). So I've been bringing my 2 Jetta's and Touareg to a dealer 20 miles away vs. the shop around the corner where I bought them.
FWIW.... Jack Daniels, Fair Lawn = NG,
.............World VW, Neptune = VG

Ha! I have had one towed in from someone leaving that motor mount loose, as well.. Really screwed things up. I can see how it happens, it is a pia to get taht mount back on, and you have to have all 3 bolts hanging in it when you manuver it in place, , and then you have to tighten two from up top, and one from down below. One of the two on top is done totally blind in the most gawd aful position you can imagine.

On my TDI I have to raise and lower the engine a little to get the torque wrench in between the fender.

My wife is taking the car back tomorrow..I almost feel sorry for them

In the dealers defense they used a local upholstery shop for the head liner, but ultimately they are responsible.

On those motor mount bolts, if you put a little dab of RTV on them, they don't fall out and cost you hours of searching for them when you put it in.

Call the service manager and make an appointment for him/her to examine the work.

Making a scene may make you feel better but probably won't help you case.

I get stellar warranty service from Hyundai, took it in because the electric side view mirror motor died (under warranty) the tech scratched the interior door panel, service manager had a new door panel installed without me saying a word.

Service manager said to give him a few days to research it. He told my wife that the door was not them.

I will call him on Wednesday and see how he has progressed on his research.
