F-1 Austin.....got hired as Race Marshall :)
 

I found out a couple months ago that Circuit of the Americas was looking for "volunteers" to work as part of the safety team for the race. I have been part of the Fire Safety team at AAA Speedway in Fontana for the past few years which gave me the three years experience that Austin wanted, so I threw my name in the hat.
I received their first official e-mail today that I have been chosen to be part of the team, they are suppling the safety gear and a discounted room. I am excited because the cost of rooms etc and pretty much put me out of going to the race at all. Should be cool. :D

Very cool. I have been a corner captain at 3 "canyon" races. Nothing like it. So different than a regular road race.

Just FYI, but hotel prices fell DRAMATICALLY about two weeks after general admission tickets went on sale. It seems the hotels kept the prices high when that block of tickets went on sale, and people put rooms on hold at multiple hotels when they were searching for the best deal, and all of the holds were released two weeks after the sale date, leaving a glut of unfilled hotel rooms.

Case in point, the hotel I booked was originally quoted at $350 a night with two rooms available the night general admission tickets went on sale. Two weeks later, it was $179 a night with 49 rooms available...

Got the race schedule and turn assignment, I am assigned to turn 15. There are going to be a couple Ferrari Challenge races and a Historics too.
My 24yo son is going with me, we decided to drive, looking forward to a great road trip and race weekend with my first born.
I will post updates through out the weekend, the team gets a nice pit lane tour hoping to get some great pics.
