I'm more in your camp. Not being much of a motorcycle connoisseur, I could stand and look at that and be amused.

Same for the exposed dry clutch....Open to the elements....Duck riders think the clutch rattle noise is very COOL....

Didn't I read somewhere where the dorks at Orange County Choppers somehow hooked up with Ducati for some kind of marketing shnizzle?

Maybe this is the result?

The dealership at OCC is a Duc franchise...

That certainly is not my style, if fact it makes me a little nauseous. Sometimes (most of the time) more is not better.

Here is a pic of my less is more Ducati to help balance the thread a little. In fact, i think it's time for a ride. Happy 4th guys!

exposed dry clutch.... meh.... i asked the guys at the shop, the mechanic, specifically. he said water and such is not going to hurt it. you could wash the thing every day with soap and water and not worry. i left mine closed anyway.

and, actually, a lot of ducati riders don't like that noise at all, which is why ducati went to wet clutches for a few years. they then realized that wet clutches just aren't worth the quiet, for many reasons.

If the clutch is dry (no oil on it from an oil leak) then more than likely the clutch pack is worn. If you have a stock clutch the entire stack should measure 38.5mm. Anything from around 1mm shorter or more can slip. The wrong model year clutch slave or pushrod can also cause slippage, as well as an aftermarket clutch lever. Shoot me a PM if you have any other questions.

Headlamp grill? Must be ready for Dakar or Baja. Exhaust by Kirby.

My Hypermotard 1100 has an open clutch cover and exposed belts. It makes a lot of racket and I love it. The mechanical sounds are part of the experience, just like an air-cooled 911 motor. How could you guys not understand that?

They sound like its coming apart at idle... me don't like. But it's another story when wound up... me like that sound.

You have one of the nicest looking monsters around. All business.

Wow.... he's going in about three different directions "customizing" what was once a gorgeous bike. Not many ways to improve a MHe 900

edit - looking at the tank, appears that he took a sport classic in the direction of a MHe.
