But the biggest bang for the buck is an older Z06

Isn't it in such rough shape you wouldn't want to run anything but a SCORE race truck there?

No actually the proving grounds was purchased years ago by a company that tests new cars and such and does crash test including endurance testing on the track

Is that where the Prius went up in smoke? (Crash tested then sat in a parking lot for a few weeks, shorted batteries or something??)

Ok I have listed here on pelican, Rennlist, Autotrader, and craigslist. What about some of those german sites where they buy US cars and bring them back to the homeland? I have no idea where to search to list it there. any thoughts?

Not aware on special sites for this. Usually the Teutons find them over here and arrange transfer themselves. Note that specifically for Germany, the earlier cars are more popular as you can get an H registration (collectors - 30 years and older) for them which makes it much more attractive (inexpeinsive). A 92 would be a regular import and not as straightforward. The coupes are the least sought after over there too. A Targa or Cab would be better to sell.

I think you have you bases covered. Keep us posted!

That Trans Am Cab is still listed in LA, so hurry! ;)

I don't think that they go for the run-of-the-mill, modern cars in Germany. They have them there and they're cheap enough. You're looking at a local sale with that.

Don't worry, the Germans are patrolling U.S. ads. My Carrera went to Germany. The buyer made it clear that he needed a low price to make it work. To him, a low price for a car that needed major engine work was just the ticket. They have to do a lot to make the TUV regulations, so a lot of work is figured into the deal as well as shipping.

You have to be off market by 5 or so grand to appeal to the Germans.

ah well thats not gonna happen here I would be back to parting it out before that would happen.

I had someone come look at it today for the second time to show his wife so we will see.

Ben are you staying in the Porsche exhaust game ? I have two of your mufflers and would be sad to know they will no longer be made.

Hardly in fact it has grown quite well and continues to grow I just have taken on a different role much like the porsche family did to porsche AG.

Now the question do you think that ding below the headlight effects the sale that much? I am thinking I may fix that in the morning.

aigel 07-08-2012 08:16 PM

I am sure you'll get the old

I would be okay with that price, but I can't pay that much for the car, my wife doesn't think it is worth that much
. ;)

But seriously, just like in selling real estate, if a buyer comes by for a second visit, you know they bit.

Good Luck!

Go to the dark side, it's fun! I've owned quite a few p-cars over the years with a multitude of other marques in between; Turbo Supra, All-Trac Celica, Lancia Zagato, 240 & Fairlady, 2002, countless Volvos & VWs. It's all good, point is to have fun and enjoy what you have. When it's time to sell, don't look back and have no regrets.
Just keep in mind though that the work & money you put into one Porsche will be considerably less than what you will spend on the others over the long haul. I think the Supra was probably the least expensive of any car I ever owned, but the All-Track made up for it in spades, but both sure put a smile on my face every time I drove them. That said though when it's time to sell it's time to sell. To me half the fun is searching for the next one.
Also two other sites to list on you might consider (BOTH FREE) Samba and believe it or not I had more contacts from Excellence Mag's site than I did from any other site listed including CL & Pelican.
Good look!

mb911 07-09-2012 09:01 AM

I might do the excellence mag thing I forgot all about that. thanks
