Roberts Rules

Does anyone here have experience with Parliamentary Procedure?

Our HOA is only 24 members, and of them only two of us have ever had to abide by Robert's Rules of Order. Yet that is what is specified in the bylaws as the guide governing our meetings.

Is The Standard Code, or Riddick's Rules any easier for people to understand?
Or do you have any other suggestions?

My suggestion was that we don't need Robert's for such a small group, but others are afraid that the meetings will get out of hand without some sort of guide to beat the members over the head with (figuratively speaking).

Lots of experience over the years with positions on many boards and organizations.....ya....You can buy a paperback book (or google) that will cover all you need to know...The full document is over 900 pages...

In a nutshell:
Have an agenda for your meeting - Proposals must be on the agenda
To discuss a proposal, someone must make the proposal and have a second before discussion. Pres will recognize those who can speak. After discussion, call for 3 votes: (1) For, (2) Against (3) Abstain.

Can go in to Executive session for sensitive/personnel issues...Notes must be kept, but not required to be published. No motions in Exec session. Motions are to be after the session ends and you are back on the "record".....

You bylaws should cover your election procedure, meeting schedule and all of that.......G'luck...

Etc, Etc.......
