Daughter's new toy... '08 Ninja 250R

Daughter has been bugging me to help her get a street bike for the past year after getting her motorcycle permit.

I have been holding her back until now, but this '08 Ninja 250R showed up on the local Craigslist with 500 miles since new and only a couple scratches for $2700. I have yet to see these '08 and newer ones for under 3k previously. I think we got a sweetheart deal! It came with a pit stand and a cover. We just picked it up tonight and she loves it. She rode 2 stroke MX race bikes as a teen, but has not ridden on the street hardly at all. SHe took it up and down our road several times tonight and had a big smile on her face! She just graduated college and will spend the next year in an apartment 30 miles away working part time and getting her masters degree.

I will take her on some rides and make her practice her parking lot handling as I am nervous she will drop the bike against someones new car. My wife is plenty nervous...... Keeping my fingers crossed that she does not get hurt.

The little Ninja is the most flickable sweet handling street bike I have ever ridden, but lacks big time in the acceleration dept (especially anywhere under 5 or 6k rpm). I think I may have to break it in for her for awhile by riding it to work over the next several weeks until I trust her to take it to her apartment.

Tim, get her signed up for a track day. Those 250's can be pretty fun on the track, plus she will learn a lot about control of the bike. They have track days for beginners.

250 cc's are alot zippier with a little person like her riding. With gas prices as high as they are, these little bikes are VERY appealing to me as a commuter. If you haven't already, some good street gear is in order.
