'06 Odyssey major service time
 

I have about 120,xxx miles on the wife's Honda kiddie hauler, time for a major service.

Looking to change plugs, timing belt, adjust valves and replace accessory drive belt.

How difficult is this to pull off in the driveway?

Dealer wants $1,500.00. Getting a quote from my indy right now.

I have an 06 Odyssey also. I had my service done at 130,000 at the dealer. Price went over 2500.00 with brakes ,tranny fluid,water pump,plugs,shocks,timing belt.

Did one not too long ago. Most complicated part is holding the cam gears in place. Make or buy a tool or it's a PITA. Otherwise it's a few hours, not bad at all.

+1 on the fixture tool. What I do is put the new T-belt on, and fix it to the cam cogs with 1" binder clips from OfficeMax. That kept the front bank camshaft from rotating clockwise while I install the belt on the rest of the pulleys.

You'll need a mirror, preferably on a stick, to see the timing marks on the rear bank. Front bank, and crank marks are pretty easy to see.

On pressing the auto tensioner back into the service position (if you're not replacing it), use a bench vice to push the tip back in VERRRRRYYY SLOWLY, like a quarter-turn of the vice every 15 seconds. It's more of a hydraulic dampener than an appliance for linear force, so if you do it too fast, the auto tensioner will lose part of it's hydraulic fluid, and fail. Once the pinholes line up, pin it in place with a drill bit.
