Compressor Question

My air compressor motor went out on me. It was a 1hp 3250rpm motor. I had a high torque farm duty motor laying around and installed it on the compressor. It runs fine, but the problem is it is only a 1700rpm motor. I should be able to purchase a new sheave pulley that is twice the size of the original pulley to bring my rpms up. This should work okay right? Yes/No maybe so???

The problem with using a 1725 RPM vs. 3600 RPM motor is two fold. Increasing the sheave size of the 1725 motor will over amp the motor. Running the lower RPM motor with the smaller size sheave will decrease the CFM's of the compressor. The best thing to do is to is to get a 3600 RPM motor and be done with it.
