Ben Spies stepping away from Yamaha MotoGP team

I was hoping he was going to become one of the GP aliens. It sure hasn't turned out that way. Really opens up some possibilities, though: (Has Cal signed with Ducati?) Hayden to Tech3, maybe? Val back to Yammer? Dovi back on a factory bike? Ben in WSB would be cool. It'd be fun to see Max, Marco, Carlos, Tom and Ben fighting it out. MOTOGP: Spies To Leave Yamaha For 'New Chapter' in '13

Until I read about it on RRW, I'm not buying into it. Spies is in OC right now shooting a video with Yamaha, so his friend Ulrich can hook up with him and get the real scoop. Too many rumors flying around right now.

Was on Superbikeplanet.com yesterday - email from Spies to Superbikeplanet. Also alluded to big changes on his own Twitter feed the days prior. Said "big things are happening from the horses mouth" and "You can say next year will be a bit diff. Excited at all prospects, stay tuned."
