Now here's something you don't see every day.
A Ferrari 612 P4/5 on I-287 between NJ & the Tappan Zee Bridge. If the road looks familar, it is because it is one of the roads used for the NY-NJ-PA spring run. NY/NJ/CT/PA Spring kick off run I was on a business trip from NJ to CT Monday (7/16/12) afternoon and saw a rather "flat" looking car some distance ahead of me. I caught up and took these photos. Notably, the Ferrari was not going very fast - barely above the speed limit - probably because it is such an obvious cop magnet and because of its value. Here is the same car car (with the same NY license plate as I photographed, no less) at a Paris auto show: Paris Motor Show: Ferrari 612 P4/5 photos ![]()

Kaisen, you beat me to it!
Never liked the exhaust tips, but it's nice to see the guy drives it!

I sort of figured that people here might know more about the car & owner than I.
Being more of a Porsche fan than a Ferrari one, I wasn't familar with the car until now. For those who don't know, it is a custom one-off car based on an Enzo and built for director and stock exchange magnate James Glickenhaus. 2008 Ferrari 612 P4/5 - Top Speed According to the article, he paid something around $3,000,000 for it. Seeing something like this at a car show, concourse, or race track is one thing. Seeing on normal roads and contrasted with "regular" cars is very different. Kind of like seeing a 917 or 962 on the highway. Much more dramatic/unusual than Ford's modern interpretation of the GT40, a new 'vette, a Viper, virtually any 911 variant, or many other high-performance cars. It's had three different evolutions of exhaust tips over the years.

The race version, P4/5 Competizione, is also street-legal with NY plates, and he drives it on the backroads of Europe with very little change to how it ran the 24 hours at the Ring.

Jim posts a lot at FerrariChat if you want to spend time digging into the history and evolution of the car (and a few other gems in his garage). Here's his race car with similar styling that he's run at the N24:
![]() ![]() Will be interesting to see if the next Ferrari supercar takes styling cues from Jim's car.

Always thought the P4/5 as what the Enzo should have been.
Never met him personally, but from some exchanges on fchat, he comes across as a cool dude. Love the story from him that recently surfaced about his encounter with Miles Davis, a totaled Miura, and a couple ziplock bags of Peru's finest.

He also had Girard Perregaux make up a special edition watch for his friends and colleagues who worked on the car.
